The Receiving Warehouse Manager manages warehouse operations and processes. They are accountable for receiving and storage of materials that are received at the site. Being a warehouse manager optimizes efficient layouts, workflows, and utilization of warehouse footprint. Monitors the safety and security of the department's goods, materials, and resources. The warehouse manager will also ensure the inter-department material transfer from storage to the production floor. They will utilize the team to effectively ensure the material person’s on-time processing is received to the affected department. This role is cross-function roll with Warehouse, production floor, and shipping department.
Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to supervisors to ensure fair and consistent application of processes and procedures across all shifts.
- Promotes a culture of continuous improvement in the organization.
- Ensures that production schedules are met by deploying appropriate resources while managing labor costs at productivity standards set for the plant.
- Identify training needs for the department.
- Implements programs to improve employee operating performance.
- Identify and support efficiency improvements for the organization through procedural and/or systems modifications.
- Works in coordination with Q/A to introduce and implement quality standards.
- Communicate with management and internal departments to resolve escalated issues.
- Directs reports: Receiving Leads, Receiving clerks, and Material handler group - 2 shift operation.
- Coordinates with Logistics to ensure that inbound materials are received in accordance with department timelines.
- Liaison with the corporate NJ office to ensure discrepancies are resolved.
- Champion of the FIFO initiative for materials received and staged.
- Maintains material inventory type and warehouse inventory location matrix with direct reports.
- Ensures that the team complies with all DOT requirements and documents materials.
- Coach employees on job-related duties and goals.
- Directs take receiving leads and Material handlers on what jobs need to be completed.
- Keeps track of departmental data through the use of excel.
- Establishes and implements process improvements for the warehouse management system.
- Reports to Operations Manager for direction and duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management or related field preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED or five years of related industry experience required.
- Able to read and communicate in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Proficient arithmetic skills, including adding, subtracting, and multiplying.
Physical & Mental Demands:
- The ideal candidate is motivated and has high energy.
- Ability to comply and utilize PPE based on work and work area.
- Able to lift, push, pull, or maneuver weights of up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to perform work during prolonged periods of standing.
- Works in a warehouse environment, including dust and elevated noise environment.
- Ability to comply and utilize personal protective equipment based on work and work area.
- Candidate must be able to lift, push, pull, or maneuver weights of up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to perform work during prolonged periods of standing (up to eight hours) is necessary.
- Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motion are also required.
- Ability to perform job requirements while in a standing position.
- Work is regularly performed within the dust and elevated noise environments.
- Works in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to manually load and unload machines consistently.
