Reliance Test & Technology (RT&T), a joint venture of InDyne, Inc. and Amentum Services, Inc. is the prime contractor to support the Atlantic Range Technical Support Services (ARTSS) for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) headquartered in Patuxent River, MD, and with locations in Maryland, Virginia, and California.

ARTSS supports Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR) and Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) in research and development, engineering, maintenance, operation, support of facilities, systems, and equipment in order to meet the engineering development and operational testing and fleet training missions for some of the world’s premier systems. Our work with the U.S. Navy keeps the warfighter safe by testing systems before they are used in combat, and we are hiring personnel to support this important mission.

Job Summary:

Applies onsite engineering techniques, principles, and precedents to develop, design, modify, install, test, evaluate, or operate electrical, electronic, avionics, mechanical, communications, stores, armament/ordnance, or related data processing systems for military weapon systems, associated support equipment or facilities, unmanned vehicles, or small craft.

ATR’s Range Operations Test Communications’ team provides operational communications support for RDT&E test and fleet training events conducted by ATR in support of customer requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight and training of other technicians.
  • Maintains and operates communications systems (voice and data that includes remote infrastructure)
  • Maintains and operates Flight Termination Transmitter equipment
  • Installs and maintains Fiber infrastructure
  • Installs and maintains CAT 5/6 infrastructure
  • Installs and maintains Copper infrastructure
  • Keeps CSS and Government Team Lead informed of all technical issues and provides possible solutions
  • Repairs, overhauls, troubleshoots, modifies, constructs, and tests a variety of test communication equipment
  • Operates test equipment to include spectrum analyzers, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and power meters
  • Keeps CSS and Government Team Lead informed of all technical issues and provides possible solutions
  • Provides oversight and training of other technicians, as needed
  • Position requires overtime (typically 5-25% per year) and travel (typically 10 - 20% per year). Individual may be assigned as a ship rider for some operations or at remote locations. Some trips may last several weeks.

Educational/Training Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED
  • Engineering/Electronics Technician AA/AS degree or related curriculum from an accredited college or university or successful completion of technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school or successful completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of courses from an accredited college

Required Skills/Experience:

  • A minimum of 6 years of work experience performing the stated or similar function.
  • A minimum of 4 years of the stated experience must include wiring of electrical components, such as data acquisition units; fabrication of wire harnesses; soldering of PC boards and other components.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States Department of Defense issued Top Secret Security Clearance

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Confined/restricted work area
  • May have exposure to outdoor conditions (exposure to mild/moderate/extreme weather/temperatures)
  • Equipment used (office/vehicles/tools):  Electronic component tools
  • Medium - Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20lbs. of force frequently, or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Broad knowledge of RF communication equipment, fiber, and copper infrastructure
  • Experience installing, terminating, testing, and repairing fiber
  • Experience installing, testing, and repairing copper infrastructure
  • Experience operating and maintaining satellite/UHF/VHF/HF radios, as well as associated equipment and infrastructure
  • Mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills preferred
  • Should be computer literate and be able to prepare or to apply engineering, technical, or maintenance specifications, policies, standards, and procedures as needed
  • Must be a self-starter, an excellent communicator (both verbally and written), and be able to use initiative to undertake activities with minimal supervision
  • Must be flexible and team-oriented
  • Demonstrated strong hands-on technical skills
  • Must have the ability to read, understand, update schematic drawings when needed
