LOCATION: Test Site C-9 (Freeport, FL) / Eglin AFB, FL- On-Site
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 32hr Full Time Guard II protects property from theft or damage, or persons from hazards or interference. Duties involve serving at a fixed post, making rounds on foot or by motor vehicle, or escorting persons or property. This worker may be deputized to make arrests and may help visitors and customers by answering questions and giving directions. This person may be required to demonstrate proficiency in the use of firearms and other special weapons and continuing physical fitness. Maintains a record of events occurring during the assigned work shift, recording security checks of buildings, areas, classified storage containers and preparing minor incident reports. Exercises judgment and uses discretion in dealing with emergency situations and security violations encountered. Duties require training in controlled area entry/access control procedures, authority and jurisdiction, operation of emergency equipment, proper methods of reporting emergency conditions or breaches of security, proper implementation of emergency security procedures in support of natural disasters, increased terrorist threat activity, bomb threats, and other situations, both actual and exercises, and proper completion of forms or reports associated with guard duties. Must be dependable for assignments as the only employee at a work location with minimal supervision. Normally reports to the guard supervisor.
GENERAL DUTIES: 32hr Full Time Guard II enforces regulations and procedures designed to prevent breaches of security, exercises judgment and uses discretion in responding to incidents and emergencies, determining whether to intervene directly, ask for assistance as time permits, keep situation under control or surveillance, or to report incident or situation to the appropriate authority for handling. Duties require specialized training in methods and techniques of protecting controlled areas. Commonly, the Guard II is required to demonstrate proficiency with firearms and other special weapons, and to meet rigorous physical fitness standards.
OTHER DUTIES: Other duties may require preparation and distribution of guard duty schedules, review guard-generated reports or forms for accuracy, and provide guidance and direction to less senior guards. May be required to operate motor vehicles to patrol assigned areas of responsibility or respond to emergency situations. May have contact with other guards, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and supervisors, via landlines and two-way radio. May be required to monitor/operate emergency equipment such as emergency power generators, dome pressurization equipment, air-conditioners, and fire protection equipment required to perform housekeeping in assigned work area.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Incumbent must be able to read, write and communicate clearly. Must be dependable and be responsive to work assignments on rotating shifts, weekend, and holidays. Must be capable of understanding and enforcing regulations, instructions and procedures designed to prevent breaches of security. May be required to demonstrate use of force, firearms safety, use and maintenance of handguns, physical apprehension and restraint techniques, and response to emergency situations.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Duties may be accomplished inside and outside under various environmental conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical fitness for the specific location assignments is required.
