In this role you will play a key role in the Tax team acting as a subject matter expert alongside the Transfer Pricing Senior Manager while the Head of Transfer Pricing for the group is on maternity leave. You will also work closely with the International Tax team and with other tax colleagues. You will interact with business unit senior finance leaders and the wider RELX tax team to resolve business queries, implement TP, troubleshoot on TP matters, support on audits as they arise, etc. You should be capable of ensuring consistent application and adoption of arm’s length TP policies established in the group, assist business stakeholders such as finance and legal to execute and resolve questions on application or implementation pragmatically and troubleshoot as needed. You may currently be a Senior Manager or Director in a consulting firm or work within an internal global tax team. You should be a team player and work well in a matrix organisation. You should also be able to get your sleeves rolled up and involved in the detail. If you have the following please get in touch straight away: Relevant finance, accounting, or tax experience such as ACA (or equivalent financial accounting qualification) and/or CTA (or equivalent tax qualification) or tax legal background. 11 years post-qualification experience; or Relevant experience in transfer pricing, tax, internal finance. Further information on this varied role below: Work closely with the Head of International Tax and Transfer Pricing Senior Manager to ensure key TP objectives are met including ongoing business support on TP matters, initiatives, etc. This may include working on key workstreams such as asset transfers, alignment from TP business model changes or acquisitions, automation or streamlining initiatives, etc. Work seamlessly and collaboratively in cross-functional teams involving different finance teams, systems, tax, legal teams and external advisors or vendors as appropriate. Address and resolve transfer pricing matters for business segments / corporate. Engage understanding of the existing TP in place to ensure alignment / consistency. Ensure timely, robust / consistent, practical solutions on transfer pricing arrangements including implementation support (such as formalization of intra-group contracts and audit defense document preparation). Work with internal stakeholders as required (business unit finance, treasury, corporate secretariat, legal, FP&A, etc.) Be able to provide guidance as a subject matter expert taking into account the group’s existing approaches on matters, audit history, business-specific considerations such as business regulations, constraints from finance process perspective, etc. Engage proactively on external tax authority on transfer pricing matters with tax authorities working with local finance and manage third party providers. Ability to communicate complex transfer pricing regulations in a simplified manner to a wide and varied audience, and able to influence others on actions or changes needed. Understands risk and materiality and assess appropriate actions to resolve matters or escalate when the exposure or risk to hand warrants escalation. Able to work flexibly, efficiently, and improve processes as needed. Support internal compliance processes of local file, master file, CbCR, etc. to ensure accuracy of business descriptions, audit readiness, etc. Liaise with external firms, negotiate scope and fees, working with procurement as required, for annual benchmarking, intercompany loan pricing, ad-hoc business requirements and defense documents. Identify external developments, enforcement and audit trends, and best practice and proactively resolve or address transfer pricing issues. Anticipate where those external developments affect the business area in question as proactively as possible. Work with post M&A integration teams to review newly added businesses for transfer pricing purposes, including developing transition advice and plans on alignment to existing business transfer pricing policies. Identify risks requiring transfer pricing provisions and preparing and updating estimates as part of the Group reporting processes.
