What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cloud Analytics Lead position at RELX?

Customer – 15%

  • Responsible for the analytics cloud migration of data and modelers from on-prem to the Microsoft Azure and to provide ongoing support for all cloud activities for the analytics teams.
  • Work with internal analytics teams (and data scientists/modelers) and technology teams to test proof-of-concepts around training, development, and deployment of machine learning models in the cloud including assisting in architectural design discussions and providing recommendations on cloud services to be deployed.
  • Ensure consistent and reliable technical support is provided to analytical teams in the development and delivery of analytical projects.

Technical – 50%

  • Delivery of resilient analytical applications systems via “Infrastructure as a Service” and other DevOps practices. Establish CI/CD pipelines and code version-control (Git) across teams to enable best practices of code repositories.
  • Work with SRE teams supporting Analytics to establish new processes to automate package management for machine learning libraries, access new data sources and efficiently manage hot/cold data in the cloud.
  • Develop and maintain systems/application documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Organize, secure, and automate existing infrastructure and deployments.
  • Partner with analytics modeling teams to assist in the development of applications and infrastructure for new modeling projects.

Lead – 20%

  • Responsible for managing at least one resource dedicated to cloud migration and infrastructure efforts for Analytics.
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the Analytics cloud migration activities and management of cloud resources for the Insurance Analytics organization.

Support – 15%

  • Supporting analytics team leads to share subject matter expertise, administer skills training, and lead cloud adoption across all analytics teams.
  • Research, deploy and support new cloud processes to effectively manage compute and storage in the cloud.

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree (Bachelor’s) in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or a Quantitative field
  • 3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and/or other cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, etc.)
  • Exposure to Database Fundamentals and General Troubleshooting (tuning, optimization,) in any Relational Database Engine (MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • Exposure to Linux and Windows server including support and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with System Administration and troubleshooting with Linux and/or Windows Server and associated technologies (Active Directory)
  • Experience with Networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, OSI model, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related)

Excellent oral and written communications skills and is comfortable presenting results to senior leadership and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree (Master’s or PhD) in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a Quantitative field
  • 5 years of experience working with Microsoft Azure and/or other cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, etc.)
  • Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and providing solutions to technical issues.
  • Experience in a customer support environment and supporting analytics applications in the cloud
  • Familiar with data warehousing and ETL processes and a strong understanding of Cloud computing concepts
