The Automotive Terminal Manager (ATM) of Intermodal Operations supports and reports to the Senior Terminal Manager (STM) by overseeing the day-to-day operations of a designated auto intermodal facility. The Automotive Terminal Manager works with their STM to instruct and supervise a team of operations personnel.
An Automotive Terminal Manager (ATM) must possess strong communication skills, an excellent multi tasker, the ability to motivate, coach and develop their direct reports.
Responsibilities:
Automotive Terminal Managers perform the following duties and tasks:
- Basic understanding of automotive railcar operations
- Effectively and efficiently lead a crew to unload and load railcars to keep a good VMH (vehicle moved per hour)
- Experience in automotive unloading and loading preferred, to include, Installing removing bridge plates, Utilizing mobile ramps, track protection and basic work safe procedures pertaining to automotive railcars.
- Act as a liaison between REMPREX management and Canadian Pacific (CP) leadership
- Oversee staff scheduling, including work assignments and rotations, vacations, breaks, and coverage for absent employees
- Assist staff in resolving complex operations problems
- Lead all training functions/programs the terminal(s)
- Lead all safety audits and programs for the terminal(s)
- Manage inbound/outbound train plans, load planning and all other related duties
- Assist in tracking and updating system issues and problems
- Facilitate the interview process for new hires and provide feedback and insight to the STM
- At the direction of the STM, conduct Coach and Counsel sessions with staff and administer appropriate discipline as needed
- Ensure that supervisors conduct daily Safety Briefings and inform staff of shift updates
- At the direction of the STM, act as an alternate representative at Yard Audit, Site Safety, and Senior Hub Management meetings
- Assist in the input, review, and analysis of performance metrics
- Enforce applicable policies, safety regulations, and procedures
- Help all supervised employees improve and maintain performance levels
- Experience in automotive unloading and loading preferred
- Organize regularly-scheduled meetings to enhance staff and management understanding of the strategic terminal plan and specific KPIs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of Four years’ experience in the intermodal industry preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
- Experience managing multiple union and non-union staff members
- Flexible schedule that can adapt to extended or adjusted hours as needed
- Strong ability to analyze and solve problems quickly and implement procedural changes in a stressful environment with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills to support teamwork; experience with team building projects
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to accurately perform arithmetic computations
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing customer requests and requirements, seasonal variances in workload, and industry needs and requirements

- Ability to pass a background and drug test, per Class 1 Railroad and E-Railsafe protocols
- Proficiency in Synapse AGS Clerk Console, Class 1 Railroad terminal operating systems (TSS, Oasis, ITOS, OBI, etc.), Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint preferred
Hours
REMPREX is a 24/7/365 operation. Occasionally, the role can require travel and extended work hours, including weekends, nights and holidays.

Work Environment
The Assistant Terminal Manager typically work in an office setting, communicating with and working alongside others. The role can also periodically require the individual to go out into the terminal. Occasionally, the Assistant Terminal Manager may need to access the corporate network from home through company-issued equipment.
