Job Description


The Business Development Executive is responsible for prospecting and encouraging new customer relationships to drive new business growth across multiple products and services.

Crucial functions and responsibilities

  • Carries out short and long-term sales strategies for named accounts in geographical area of responsibility. Partners with marketing to develop and complete campaigns and other key initiatives.
  • Has a detailed understanding of customer buying cycles and market trends by state and local designations and applies to sales strategy as appropriate.
  • Prospects, identifies, and acquires new customers. Grows new business and achieves an aggressive new business sales target across multiple products and services.
  • Develops and nurtures key customer relationships with key decision makers in respective geographical area of responsibility.
  • Generates customer interest and attendance in company sponsored events. Examples include conferences, trade shows, executive briefings, and other educational events.
  • Qualifies new business opportunities.
  • Closes new sales and achieves sales targets.
  • Maintains customer account, contact, lead, and other customer data in CRM.
  • Accurately forecasts sales and ensures data integrity of potential upcoming sales opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university. A minimum of three years of sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Solid understanding of state/local education legislation and proven relationships in the education community.
  • Proven track record of strong delivery against sales goals.
