Responsibilities

  • Support the Bank’s larger and more complicated credit request.  In some markets, this role will specialize in Residential Construction Lending, Business Manager, ESOPS and other focused types of lending.
  • Review loan submissions, underwriting decisions and process flow to achieve maximum department efficiency, productivity, customer service with minimal turnaround time.
  • Prepare cash flow analysis and spreads.
  • Prepare written analysis for credit memo used in the credit approval package.
  • Work with the Relationship Manager to prepare a final approval package for the approval team.
  • Ensure high credit quality, production and turnaround standards are achieved.
  • Assist in the development of credit underwriting tools.
  • Make recommendations regarding loan structure to the Relationship Manager during the underwriting process and communicate directly with the Regional Senior Credit Officers in his/her market regarding credits in the pipeline.
  • Assist in the development and communication of revisions/additions to Bank policy. The Senior Credit Underwriter is expected to be a subject matter expert of loan policy matters.
  • Assist in the preparation for regulatory examinations playing a lead role when necessary.
  • Provide "ownership" of certain credits to include monthly high level reviews of BBCs and covenant compliance forms within the local market for specified credits and perform annual reviews when necessary.
  • When appropriate, attend client calls with the Relationship Manager/Managing Director to gain insight on the client/credit request.
  • Seek and refer new business opportunities to appropriate bank staff.
  • Make additional product (cross-sell) recommendations to the Relationship Manager/Managing Director.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years applicable experience OR 10 years’ applicable experience.
  • Ability to make underwriting decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn new systems effectively and efficiently.
  • Meet tight deadlines and multi task under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to learn varied job assignments readily.
  • Ability to communicate with the public in a courteous and professional manner.
