Job Description
The CMM Programmer is responsible for implementing and maintaining inspection systems, procedures, and programs to ensure accuracy of precision to customer related requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes procedures for calibration and inspection systems and standards to maintain a high level of quality and to ensure dimensionally acceptable product.
- Determine and enforce proper dimensional inspection criteria in accordance with customer requirements and company needs and continuously improving to provide a better service to G&F customers.
- Responsible for calibration systems, inspection and equipment setup procedures, and equipment programming. A main function is to maintain in process production inspection to reduce down time, assist with qualification studies such as MSA and Capability analysis.
- Responsible for working with teams to assist with fixture design reviews, inspection methods for new and current products.
- The Metrology Engineer has responsibility to act as a liaison with customers on matters relating to dimensionally critical features and inspection methods as needed
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Technical Requirements:
- Must be highly proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experienced PC DMIS CMM Programmer with ability to create new programs for new parts.
- Ability to develop and debug CMM (coordinate measuring machine) programs using CAD tools to optimize probe movements.
- Knowledge of gage and fixture design.
- Experience with programming OGP SmartScope vision measurement systems preferred.
- Full working knowledge and use of inspection tools and gages, such as calipers, height gages, depth gages, micrometers, cylindrical plugs, thread gages, decimal scales, indicators.
- Prepares inspection and test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions.
- Performs moderate to complex First Article Inspections (FAI).
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills to interface with both technical and non-technical personnel and customers.
- Efficient work habits and detailed organizational skills.
- Read and understand technical information as it relates to quality requirements.
- Knowledge and experience with ISO9001 and ISO13485.
- Experience working within an injection molding environment preferred.
- Able to make good decisions based on facts.
- Willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
- Other project assignments as determined by Manager.
Experience:
- PCDMIS: 5 years (Preferred)
- Metrology: 1 year (Preferred)
- Quality Inspection: 4 years (Preferred)
