GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
The Outreach Coordinator is instrumental in implementing, executing, and coordinating prevention education and outreach throughout the Stevie’s Place service area to increase awareness of child abuse. They will collaborate with tribal health organizations, tribal councils, and other Alaska Native service providers to expand advocacy and increase access to services to Stevie’s Place Child Advocacy Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with tribal health organizations, tribal councils, and other Alaska Native service providers to conduct culturally relevant outreach and education events to
Fairbanks and surrounding communities on topics related to child maltreatment including: the nature and dynamics of child maltreatment, mandatory reporting, personal safety, and stress reduction;
- Develop and lead community-wide efforts with key stakeholders/organizations to deliver prevention education programs;
- Develop strategic relationships with community stakeholders, including organizations serving children, sports organizations, faith-based organizations, and educational institutions;
- Collaborate on the design and creation of all promotional and prevention materials, and media campaigns;
- Work with other entities to assist in specific targeted workshops or trainings that would benefit community members;
- Develop and utilize appropriate evaluation tools to ensure quality assurance;
- Receive continuing education related to child abuse prevention and the Child
Advocacy Center model and regularly review current literature/research;
- Maintain outcome measurements required for program and grant reporting;
- When not carrying out the Outreach Coordinator role this position may provide family advocacy services, especially while on village travel, which includes assisting families in locating sources of support and helps them navigate through the investigatory process in an open, compassionate and professional way, while supporting Stevie’s Place and RCPC’s mission;

- Cross-cultural knowledge of Alaska Native cultures and traditions. Familiarity with the culture and needs of individuals of Alaska Native descent;
- Ability to partner with tribal health organization, tribal councils, and other Alaska
Native service providers in planning outreach and educational events;
- Public speaking;
- Training as a family advocate or ability to obtain 24 hours of family advocacy training upon hire;
- Ability to coordinate and facilitate meetings and events;
- Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines;
- Avid multitasking;
- Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy;
- Motivated and willing to take initiative;
- Knowledge and ability to adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA) and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality regulations;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Experience and/or desire to work in a non-profit environment with families and children.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Must be a High School graduate or have obtained a GED;
- At least one (1) year of organizing community events or related experience;
- Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver’s license.
