How Will You Make An Impact
RHD is seeking several part time/on-call nurses to work with with women who have substance use treatment needs along with overlapping medical, familial and mental health needs. Our shifts are 12am-8am, 8am-4pm, 4pm-12amThis position will allow the unique opportunity to work with women during the entire process from assessment through withdrawal management, treatment, and transition to stable housing and would be perfect for candidates passionate about nursing in a community setting (outside of a hospital), building relationships, addressing homelessness, and harm reduction.

RHD employees and programs in the City of Philadelphia are required to follow the COVID vaccine mandate. Revised PDPH guidance allows for new hires to be partially vaccinated at the time of hire. This means they have received at least one shot in a two-dose series or a single dose in a one-dose series before beginning in-person shifts. The final dose must be received within 8 weeks of hire (start date). This currently does not include boosters.
Responsibilities/Duties
Provide primary medical care to individuals needing detoxification services
Provide daily medication monitoring and medical services to all residents in the program in addition to individual consultation and programming to support the resident's overall wellness
Build relationships with the program's contracted pharmacy and outside medical providers and assist the women with connecting to primary care providers and other needed medical services and medication assisted treatment in the communityAdditional duties include:Supervising client submission of urine for analysis
Individual dialogue and intervention about health issues
Participation in weekly clinical rounds and case consultations
Tracking and ordering medication refills and completing documentation in a SOAP note format
The nurse will be responsible for making independent decisions and problem solving medical challenges with limited direction from others during their shift.
Required Experience
3 years experience in a drug and alcohol detoxification setting or with individuals on MAT preferred.Preference given to individuals with experience as a community nurse outside of a hospital setting.
Required Education
ASN accepted, BSN preferred
Required Qualifications
Registered Nurse
Valid Driver's license
Act 33/34 clearance and FBI clearance as needed
Appropriate candidates will be compassionate, caring and enthusiastic about our mission, and will possess the desire to interact with individuals creatively through modeling, teaching, assisting, and listening. Willilngness to support the development of this pilot project is needed and ability to support the trauma informed culture and interact with everyone in a respectful and gentle way is a must. Additionally, willingness to work with individuals on medication assisted treatment and support women in all stages of recovery is required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Program Summary
Located in Germantown, Womanspace Philadelphia (a program of Resources or Human Development) is a 10-bed residential facility providing substance use treatment to women with a history of chronic homelessness. WSP provides evidenced-based treatment from a Recovery Model perspective. We value individualized and holistic care and strive to provide a restorative experience for all women who come through our doors.
