Our client, recognized as a top $5 mm Private Club and golf course in Northern New York is seeking a controller to lead the financial team and serve on the Executive Committee. The Clubhouse features dining rooms, an outdoor patio, and two bars as well as a men's bar & grill, gun/shooting club, indoor theater, outdoor pool facility and sports house.
SUMMARY: We are currently seeking a proactive Financial Controller with strong analytical, communication and decision making skills who will be responsible for driving the financial performance of the organization. The position is designated for a 2-3 month assignment, but could become permanent for the right candidate. This position will report directly to the club's COO and is tasked with creating growth, reducing costs and maximizing efficiency. Additionally this position will be responsible for all day-to-day accounting operations, including AP/AR; preparation of financial statements; development, updating and documentation of accounting processes; and the creation of a comprehensive set of controls and budgets to mitigate risk, enhance accuracy and ensure results are reported in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the development, implementation, and documentation of improvements within the Accounting Department; and, in coordination with other managers, company-wide (as they affect accounting functions) to continue to reduce costs and promote growth
Develop, assess and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Document Return on Investments (ROI) for projects, initiatives and investments made; e.g. software, technology, marketing, asset purchases, co-sponsoring opportunities.
Analyze and present detailed Cash Flow Analysis to key stakeholders
Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures
Ensures monthly financial statements and cash flows are accurate and completed no later than 10 days after end of month.
Responsible for all Payroll data processing functions and ensures that payroll is completed accurately and timely.
Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury/Cash Management functions
Implements and oversees the accounting and operational internal controls to protect company assets/investments, confidential information and reduce shrinkage.
Continuously identifies opportunities for improvements and update processes to maximize efficiencies
Performs special projects and all other duties as assigned by the COO while completing all day-to-day responsibilities
Leads and manages the accounting/finance team to efficiently and effectively complete the above stated responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a college degree in an appropriate business related discipline, post-graduate and/or CPA preferred. Directly related job experience is required.
This position requires at least (5) years of increasing managerial responsibility, preferrably in private club or hospitality.
This position requires an assertive, self-starter, with strong analytical skills that has the ability to manage all day-to-day responsibilities in addition to focusing on future growth creation.
This position requires strong computer knowledge and the ability to evaluate software. .
This position requires the ability to perform several tasks simultaneously.
This position requires the ability to communicate with subordinates, co-workers, supervisors, stakeholders, and Partners in both written and verbal form This position requires the ability to handle confidential information and use discretion while performing job tasks.
