What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bowling Alley Host position at Retro Lanes?

TL;DR - We are looking for a Bowling Alley Host/Hostess to work in-person at our retro bowling alley 2-3 Saturdays a month for 5-10 hours per shift. Additional hours possible. On-call hours also possible. The position involves interacting with guests, handling cash/card transactions, working with our 60 year old pinsetter machines, and general cleaning. Pay starts at $12/hr Tips.

We are searching for a Bowling Alley Host/Hostess to host our bowling guests at Retro Lanes in Carson City, Michigan!

Our alley was built in the 40s, has been well-kept for generations, underwent a change of ownership in the summer of 2022, and has now been operating for 5 months. We provide a very unique environment that our guests love! It is an incredibly positive and fun work environment. Nothing is better than enabling families to have fun bowling and create new forever memories!

Ultimate Goal: Create the best environment possible for guests to thrive! Specifically:

  • Interact with guests with kindness and excitement!
  • Serve guests with joy!
  • Clean & maintain the space & bowling equipment
  • Obtain a working knowledge of our 60 year old pinsetter machines, and be able to apply basic fixes.

Due to working responsibilities, we are only seeking adults 18 or older for this position.

Details:

It’s important that you know the hours we are offering are subject to change. We are coming up on our first summer as a business, and we must be able to flex and adjust. Any team member who joins us must share our willingness to adapt and change quickly. Below you will find the current position we have open:

Part time.

2-3 Saturdays per month.

5-10 hours per shift, starting around 2pm and ending as late as 10 or 11pm.

Various shifts throughout the month to provide extra staff during party rentals; likely 2-3 hours per shift.

Possibility of additional paid on-call hours, mostly during Fri-Sat-Sun.

Any candidate selected will have the opportunity to learn and grow with us as a company, with the potential for more hours & responsibility (if desired) once comfortable working here–and as opportunities present themselves.

Start date: Immediate!

Pay - $12/hr, plus tips

On-call pay - $2.40/hr (⅕ of hourly wage, as mandated by Michigan)
