Summary Functions
The Purchasing Manager is a vital part of a support group that assists with keeping production operating at an optimum level. The Purchasing Manager is directly responsible for site specific purchasing, inventory control and warehouse operations. The Purchasing Manager ‘Owns’ the warehouse and equipment he/she is responsible for.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess adequate fitness and stamina in order to conduct strenuous and physically demanding tasks.
- Understand and follow oral or written instructions issued by supervisors
- Able to clearly explain problems or give instructions to others involved in keeping operations running smoothly.
- Able to perform the job with limited supervision
- Understand basic machine components and operation, including working around moving mechanical parts and vibrations
- Arrive on time and stay on task in order to contribute to better output and reaching production goals.
- Able to work well in an industrial environment, and as part of a team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Perform tasks such as walking, climbing, or standing for long periods of time.
- Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
- Ability to work outside in all conditions.
- Must be comfortable working around loud equipment.
- Able to work while in a harness at heights over 4 feet.
- Able to lift 50 lbs throughout work shift

- Oversees proper body positioning, proper use of tools, pinch points
General Responsibilities
Purchasing
- Initiate and monitor the ordering of routine materials and services through the automatic re-order process.
- Quote direct materials or service entered by the requisition process.
- Purchase direct materials or service using the PO, once generated.
- Responds to breakdown emergencies of equipment by facilitating the acquisition of parts or service needed.
- Stage Direct Materials in appropriate staging area; communicate with all parties upon receipt of direct materials.
- Communicates with all parties on the status of ordered parts.
- Arrange repairs of items returned to the warehouse when necessary, monitor items out for repair. Communicates with Vendors for service, repair reports, etc.
- Other duties and functions as required.
Invoice Reconciliation
- Complete RVI process during allotted time, on a weekly basis to ensure payment of invoices.
Warehouse Operations
- Receives deliveries and ensures items are properly tagged, labeled, and put in appropriate bin.
- Assure inventory accuracy by monthly cycle counting and annual inventory verification.
- Encourage that parts are scanned out of the Warehouse correctly. Work with maintenance to make sure employees know how to operate the scanning station; post instructions and reinforce the proper method to scan items.
- Keep aisles clear of clutter and debris to ensure the safety of anyone that enters.
- Keep all parts properly labeled with bar codes for ease of scanning and located on the proper shelf, maintain computer locations, and inventory counts.
- Assist those that need help locating parts in the Warehouse.
- Keep the Warehouse staffed as much as possible during production hours.
- Other duties and functions as required.
Warehouse Attendant
- Directs Warehouse Attendant/Parts Runner (WA) his/her duties.
- Responsible for the scheduling of work and coordination of activities to optimize the hours clocked by the WA
- Prioritize the role of the WA to maximize production.
- Complete the performance evaluation of the WA for the 90 day probation, annually and any other needed discipline or counseling documentation.
- Other duties and functions as required.
Vehicles/Driving
- A good Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is necessary, as driving is integral with this job.
- While driving a company vehicle, the driver is responsible for any moving violation and any fine assessed.
- Accidents or other citations in a company vehicle must be reported immediately; these may affect a MVR.
- Accidents or other citations in a personal vehicle, even if not related to work, may affect a MVR.
- A DUI/DWI in any vehicle will affect a MVR.
- Company vehicles assigned to the Warehouse must be maintained and serviced per normal operating standards.
- Company vehicles assigned to the Warehouse must be kept clean.
