What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP, Stop Loss-Distribution position at RGA?
The VP, Stop Loss-Distribution develops, manages, and directs new business & prospect/ broker facing activities for the RGA Stop Loss Direct Sales Team. Collaborates with staff performing underwriting and other services. Develops and manages product sales and deal flow activities using expert-level of marketing and risk assessment skills and experience; evaluates and classifies Employer Stop Loss cases. Acts as a client/broker contact on new and renewal Employer Stop Loss business as well as liaison between Underwriting, Actuarial, Account Services, Medical Management and Claims departments. Recommends and participates in the development and implementation of process improvements that may extend beyond the area of oversight. Serves as a key member of the business development team participating in strategic direction and fostering a spirit of cooperation and coordination among all work areas.
Responsibilities
- Develops and assesses new business opportunities and coordinates appropriate underwriting and pricing processes. Leads the effort to respond to all new and renewal business RFP/RFI.
- Develops and maintains relationships with industry connectors (e.g., brokers, General Agents, TPAs and potential prospects) in order to generate sales activity. Takes ownership of the prospect relationship and ensures that broker/prospect objectives are met and gain understanding when the objectives are not feasible.
- Collaborates with actuarial, underwriting and ROSE to provide underwriting quotes and product development support.
- Serves as a member of the Business Development team, including implementing strategic and tactical direction, business unit goals and objectives and development of joint plans to achieve goals and objectives.
- Coordinates and works with all necessary departments within Group Re & RGA in the development and support in all aspects of the insurance/reinsurance relationship with the client.
- Manages new business activities and deal flow. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development.
- Ability to develop and conduct due diligence and onboarding meetings for RGA Employer Stop Loss insurance products.
- Manages completion of special projects as they arise and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years of healthcare insurance or reinsurance
- 7 years management experience
Preferred:
- Experience working with Health Plans, Brokers, General Agents, Captives and TPAs.
- 10-15 years of healthcare insurance or reinsurance sales experience
Skills and Abilities

- Ability to travel as required, up to 25% of the time

The general pay range for this position is $143,245-$200,00 per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles, and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
