Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety Officer to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while promoting a safe working environment for all employees. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of occupational health standards, OSHA regulations, and environmental policies. You will be responsible for developing training programs, conducting risk assessments, and implementing safety protocols to minimize workplace hazards.
The Environmental Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for facilitating compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) guidelines for our Longview Plant/Facility and work and collaborate with Garland Safety staff. Also responsible for facilitating compliance with Environmental policies including federal, state, and local regulations and codes. Must have ample knowledge of chemicals, environmental science, and human health.
Responsibilities:
- Establishing a safe workplace according to legal standards and fostering a culture of attention to Environmental, Health and Safety.
- Lead and support the development and improvement of Occupational Health and Safety policies and programs.
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
- Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
- Initiate and organize Occupational Health and Safety training of employees.
- Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g., not using PPE personal protective equipment).
- Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
- Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.
- Serve as primary contact for site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.
- Enforce preventative Environmental, Health and Safety, measures.
- Prepare educational safety and health training monthly or as needed to establish a positive Safety and Health culture.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and annual inspections, audits and risk assessment on all practices, procedures, processes, Equipment, machinery, and facility as needed to ensure compliance with Safety and Health in accordance with OSHA Regulations
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA Regulations, approved manufacturer manuals, policies, procedures, and good engineering practices.
- Maintain and Update the SDS Manuals
- Oversee the Safe Keeping and Deposal of Hazardous Waste
- Manage SWP3 – Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan
Qualifications:
- A qualified candidate with 5 to 7 years’ experiences would be someone working in the position of Environmental Health and Safety Officer, with a preference in a Manufacturing environment.
- In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g., OSHA/EPA/CAA/RCRA, CWA and procedures
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
- Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus.
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Diligent with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
- Certified and Proficient in EHS/Occupational Health and Safety.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
