What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Branch Manager position at Rhenus Logistics LLC?
Objectives of the Position
Coordinate and supervise the air/ocean/import operators and shipments in accordance with customer and/or forwarding agent requirements, and company objectives.
Principle Accountabilities
- Train new and current employees.
- Review and enforce the work plan / SOPs for assigned staff.
- First point of contact when an operational issue arises.
- Onboard new accounts with current Branch Manager’s support and all parties involved.
- Review and assist the operations and accounting team of any Credit notes and others, as required.
- Booking, documentation, costing, billing, filing, coordination, quoting, tracking and customer service.
- Arrange cargo transportation with all applicable parties.
- Plan and optimize shipment routes.
- Coordinate with customers, agents, and vendors.
- Prepare, distribute, or otherwise process all required documentation including AWB, BOLs, invoices, export declarations (EEI), import documentation, pre alerts, debit and
- Establish and/or maintain detailed customer-service profiles.
- Monitors shipments and keep all parties informed of the shipment status at all times.
- Ability to trouble shoot and work with programmers to communicate issues with operating
- system as it relates to the completion of Air / Ocean / Import / Export documentation.
- Support the Branch Manager in reviewing and reporting monthly performance including P&L analysis.
- Monitor that all members of the Operations team abide rules, procedures, trainings and any local or state requirement when performing their job.
Education & Work Experience Requirements/Skills
- Minimum of 2 years prior work experience in the logistics and transportation industry, preparing and processing international air or ocean shipments, in-transit shipments and/or inland-freight shipments.
- Associates degree, vocational training in a related field or a minimum of two years of college coursework preferred.
- US export-compliance training preferred.
- Ocean / Air DG training preferred.
- Computer literate.
- Excellent Leadership and Communication skills.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Capacity for teamwork and willingness to assist others.
- Ability to display professionalism and courteousness always.
- Team player with ability to work with cross-functional teams and all levels of management
- ACE system knowledge preferred.
