In this role you will report directly to the Slide Gate Project Manager and work closely with the Lexington Warehouse Staff. This role will the 100% on-site in the Lexington, KY warehouse.
The responsibility of this position is split up into three categories:
- Assembly of Small & Large Components
- Shipping & Receiving Support
- Quality Control
Assembly of Small & Large Components
- Review prioritized workload daily.
- Follow 5S principles when working.
- Communicate variances in precision machined parts immediately to the Project Manager or Team Lead.
- Gain understanding of customers operation, and how our equipment will/does affect that operation.
· Setting up and operating machine tools to convert materials into parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies.
· Surface finishing of parts, components, and assembled items including washing/painting/plating/anti-corrosion coating, hardening, polishing/engraving/etching, etc.
· Help keep warehouse well organized including location assignment for all parts and making sure all parts are in proper locations promptly after QC (as necessary) or arrival.
· Works independently with general supervision.
Support Shipping & Receiving
· Assist with inventory management.
· Pulling Orders, etc.…
Quality Control
- Perform quality control analysis of new parts coming from Europe and US to ensure parts are up to engineered specifications.
- Document and log precision variances, as well as communicate issues to Project Manager or Team Lead.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Mechanically inclined
- Computer savvy
- Familiar with Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word, Visio).
- Ability to learn new software (Ex. SAP).
- Communication skills
- Coordination skills
- Experience using a set of calipers.
- Ability to use hand tools/ power tools.
- Read & interpret assembly diagrams.
- Attention to detail.
In addition, you have:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Forklift License/Certification
- Valid Driver License
- 1-2 years’ experience assembling precision components.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to lift 50 pounds on occasion.
- The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- The ability to safely climb stairs.
- The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly.
- Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours per day.
Working Environment
The work environment is a semi-climate-controlled warehouse. Adhere to all safety guidelines and proper PPE usage regarding the presence or exposure to welding & cutting torch fumes, cutting, grinding, material mixing, painting, electrical, overhead loads and heavy equipment usage and traffic.
