Director of Distribution

• The Director of Distribution - Charlottesville will provide strategic operational oversight for all fulfillment and warehousing at the Rhoback warehouse (totaling roughly 30,000 square feet) - including inventory management, inbound and outbound shipping, and all staffing management/supervision for all fulfillment and warehouse teams. Qualified candidates must have the ability to apply lean management principles to existing operations, the experience scaling operations, and expertise in NetSuite WMS. In this role, candidate will oversee safety, quality, operational and cost effectiveness, team culture, and overall performance of the warehouse and fulfillment center.

This role will have 2 to 4 direct reports (all having more than 50 hourly team members under them in aggregate) and will have responsibility for providing the direction and development of all team members in fulfillment and warehouse operations (both permanent and temporary/seasonal employees).

• Oversee implementation and Go-Live of NetSuite Warehouse Management System
• Lead best practice in fulfillment center and warehouse management design to optimize space, via shelving and racking design and other alternatives, to maximize labor productivity
• Lead best practices in fulfillment and warehouse processes via NetSuite to optimize efficiencies, accuracy, and inventory management
• Direct fulfillment and warehouse managers and relevant department managers to ensure coordination of fulfillment and warehouse activities
• Analyze fulfillment and warehouse results to improve fulfillment/warehouse practices
• Partner with Finance Team to forecast seasonal hiring needs based on sales forecast
• Establish measurement metrics and set efficiency performance targets for fulfillment and warehouse teams that align with company objectives
• Overseas operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, storage of shipping materials and supplies, and maintaining inventory accuracy
• Lead, direct and control operating budgets for entire distribution center, including shipping materials, packaging, facility management
• Project and purchase supplies required to operate effectively
• Identify the causes of product losses and takes corrective action
• Oversee quality control of all incoming shipments
• Promote team environment and work collaboratively to achieve team goals
• Guide, educate, coach, develop and motivate direct reports as well as all hourly employees on their respective teams to achieve the best product for our customers
• Make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions
• Foster a strong working partnership with all departments, like Customer Service and Marketing, to support all brand objectives
• Ensure fulfillment center and warehouse are being operated safety and are compliant with all necessary rules, regulations, and company policies
• Maintain relationships with all shipper carriers and negotiate best rates – both for incoming and outgoing shipments
• Ensure and hold direct reports accountable for scheduling and managing their teams and preforming their duties timely
• Oversee inventory security
• Use Lean and Six Sigma tools to solve problems, identify improvements, reduce waste, increase efficiency, and improve safety
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• College degree required
• NetSuite WMS expertise required
• Leadership experience in a warehouse environment or other applicable experience
• Experience with barcoding and RF scanners
• Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with the floor including building positive employee relations
• Minimum of 7-10 years of management/supervisory experience in warehouse/fulfillment operations
• Strong leadership skills including the ability to effectively lead change
• Ability to develop and lead strategic initiatives
• Solid business judgment including demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Demonstrated understanding of technology (i.e. label printers, packing station technology, warehouse machinery)
• Good financial analysis and resource allocation skills
• Excellent coaching skills and ability to deliver effective feedback

• Shopify experience
• Seasonal hiring experience
