For nearly 75 years Rice Lake Weighing Systems has been a successful, growth-oriented company known as a leader in the weighing industry and our community. Located in scenic northwestern Wisconsin, just 90 miles from Minneapolis, RLWS offers big city careers in a small-town atmosphere. We are currently a seeking talented Buyer to join our Purchasing team.
The primary responsibilities of the Buyer II at RLWS would include: daily supply chain management practices, handling the purchasing needs and achieving strategic procurement goals and objectives through the execution of sourcing policies and procedures. Purchasing at RLWS means always procuring materials and services at the highest quality level required with the lowest cost on a timely basis. The Buyer II will proactively manage the supply base and provide critical operational support aligned with the departments strategic vision and direction.
Major Duties and Tasks:
- Coordinate and execute the day to day buying operations including daily placement of orders, solicitations and organization of quoting, problem solving and expediting orders as needed
- Performs all aspects of value-added purchasing and managing inventory levels within stocking parameters
- Develop effective working relationships with internal constituents and vendors
- Develop a basic understanding of basic incoterms, harmonized tariff codes, uniform commercial code parameters, negotiation techniques, and understanding of contract information
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Vice President of Supply Chain
This is a Regular Full-Time position with core working hours of Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing, Materials Management, Business Administration or a business-related field, or five (5) or more years’ experience in a formal purchasing environment.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of MRP/ERP systems a plus
- Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Production Management and Inventory Control (C.P.I.M.) a plus
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Possess a solid understanding and demonstrated experience in purchasing concepts and practices, terms and conditions, and contract/price negotiation; excellent negotiations skills required
- Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple projects
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and computer skills including exceptional Microsoft Suite skills
- Domestic travel and possible international travel required
- Show initiative and creative problem solving
- Keep up on market trends and changes in business practices
- Manage domestic and international vendor base
- Knowledge of import logistics and transactions
Certificates, licenses, training, or other job-related requirements
- Currently have or are working towards certification, Purchasing Management (CPM) or Certified Production Management and Inventory Control (CPIM)
