What are the responsibilities and job description for the Repair Specialist iDim Sensors position at Rice Lake Weighing Syst?
The core hours for this position are 7:00AM to 3:30 PM. Monday through Friday, but may be negotiable. Overtime is as needed.
BASIC FUNCTION
Test, trouble-shoot, repair and modify electronic weighing equipment in accordance with company procedures and policies. Acts as a technical resource for many products specializing in Dimensioning (iDim) products. Provides estimates of repairs. Operate a variety of equipment, tools and machinery including various testing devices, meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools. Assist customers with product problems in the field via the telephone. Works as a member of a team, maintaining self-directed work in order to obtain the highest level of quality and efficiency. Assist Supervisor with process improvements to reduce costs and increase departmental efficiency. Assist Supervisor with employee training. Position is scheduled rotating hours between 6:30am and 6:30pm weekdays with an occasional Saturday.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/MAJOR TASKS
Test, trouble-shoot, repair and modify electronic weighing equipment in accordance with company procedures and policies.
Provides estimates of repairs. Ensures estimates are complete and timely. Coordinates with customer contact staff to ensure customer satisfaction.
Acts as a technical resource for many products and specializing in iDim products. Operate a variety of equipment, tools and machinery including various testing devices, meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools.
Prepare and maintain records including labor, materials, and work orders completed. Prepare troubleshooting and test reports as required.
Ensures repairs are accurate and done in a highly professional manner.
Assist in the development of any new testing procedures required.
Requisitions and maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and parts for the maintenance and repair of equipment and related systems.
Perform cleanup of testing/repair center
Use service manuals and schematic diagrams to repair electronic and mechanical equipment.
Cross trains in other repair stations on other products.
Monitors workload toward ensuring customer satisfaction.
Provides technical expertise with a wide variety or products and repair request. Ensures
Assist other Repair Technicians as a technical resource for many products.
Assist customers with product problems in the field via the telephone. Includes assisting with installation, de-bugging and other service related questions.
Enters customer calls into reporting system.
Prioritizes pending repair jobs. Maintains job board ensuring accuracy of assigned jobs statuses.
Assist Supervisor in the accomplishment of department goals and objectives.
May be assigned to special products or process. Assist supervisor with implementing new items. Develops technical knowledge on new items. Trains other employees.
Performs high reliability soldering on repairs.
Contribute to maintaining department professional appearance by cleaning while working.
Follows ESD guidelines to ensure repair quality.
Uses M2K computer extensively to record repair notes and other repair related information.
Assist other departments with technical information, troubleshooting techniques, telephone support, and setting up equipment - test equipment.
Evaluate and perform customer driven request.
Maintain records and correspondence of equipment sent in for repair.
Assist the Supervisor in locating and procuring parts, tools, or other aids to improve the department’s productivity.
Adhere to all safety rules and guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Travels infrequently to customer locations for service-related functions.
Trains new repair technicians.
Backs-up when needed other repair functions.
May participate at product development meetings as the department representative.
Participates in training programs to increase overall product or electrical knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
Education and Experience
Associates Degree in Electronics or related field or four (4) or more years equivalent electronics troubleshooting experience.
Four (4) or more years electronic equipment repair experience.
Two (2) or more years Rice Lake Weighing Systems equipment repair experience
