Job Title: Makerspace Teacher
Reports To: Building Principal
Job Objective: The Richmond Heights Local District seeks to hire a Makerspace Teacher who has experience with the Maker Movement and pedagogy, STEM and Graphic Design, and is eager to help students and fellow educators effectively utilize innovative technologies. The district seeks candidates who are innovative, technology-savvy, have a firm grasp of the teaching pedagogy and are able to work collaboratively with colleagues. The Makerspace will be used in collaboration with classroom teachers in all grades to enhance, extend, and deepen classroom learning and curricular projects.
Contract Days: 185 days
Compensation:
Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Education)
● Experience in elementary and/or middle/high school
● Creative, innovative, forward-thinking, growth mindset
● Excellent collaborative skills
● Enthusiasm for exploring new trends and tools for learning
● Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
● Experience with interdisciplinary and innovative curricular design
● Strong classroom management skills
● Experience with inquiry-based learning and cooperative learning with a focus on a student-centered approach
● Proficient in Google applications and platforms
● Assist with coordination as it relates to school group workshops in the Makerspace including professional development, implementation, and training
● Maintain a safe and efficient learning environment
Desired Qualifications:
● Education degree
● STEAM education and/or other project-based learning certifications, including Graphic Design skills
● Knowledge of the engineering design process
Essential Duties:
● Facilitate hands-on projects with students
● Create opportunities and programming in the Makerspace, including partnering with outside organizations and experts
● Manage the scheduling, inventory, and equipment upkeep
● Must be a flexible and collaborative team member who can support, inspire, and motivate others and make decisions effectively
● Research, develop and innovate maker activities
● Technical support of project documentation (video, photo, blog/vlog, digital portfolio, social media)
● Other duties as assigned
