Job Description:
Work with a small, fast-moving team with experience at companies including Airbnb, Amazon, General Assembly, Google, and LinkedIn. Gain experience with an edtech / social impact startup focused on unlocking potential in all youth.
You’d like to use your UI/UX and research skills to build engaging learning apps for students and teachers. You enjoy speaking with users, both in person and online, and are adept at translating diverse perspectives into cohesive recommendations and plans. UX interns will plan and lead co-design, usability, and pilot sessions; gather and assimilate feedback; and create and update user flows and Figma mockups. For those with interest in and experience with video editing, there may also be opportunities to create and update product overview and other videos.
Skills and Interests:
We are building progressive web apps on Amazon Web Services using React. Wireframes, mockups, and prototyping are created in Figma. Candidates should have 1-2 years or more of experience designing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes in Figma. Past experience in UI (web and/or mobile), UX (including user research), QA is key; an interest in education technology, learning science and/or game design would be a plus.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Figma
- Minimum 1 year of experience with user research and usability testing
- Experience working within a design system and improving upon it
- Experience with methodological QA processes
- Willingness to dive in and learn more!

Dates and Hours:
This role will run from October, 2024 to April, 2025 with a commitment of 20 hours/week. This includes hands-on UI/UX projects in Figma, user research, landscape analysis, QA, self-study, and practice. We have daily sub-team standups and monthly full-team meetings, with periodic ad hoc meetings as needed.
This is an internship where you will have the opportunity to apply and hone pre-existing skills, build new ones, as well as receive mentorship from industry leaders. Upon successful completion of the internship, interns will receive a grant-funded stipend.
