JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY: Technician - Manufacturing Engineering
Provides technical support to set-up personnel, manufacturing, and engineering in all phases of manufacturing. Develops schematics, designs, and specifications in support of new and existing processes/products. Participates in continuous improvement activities to reduce cycle time/down-time due to set-up, change-over, processes, and/or tooling. Troubleshoots, identifies, and implements system/process needs/improvements in work cell layout, process flow, work standards, etc. Minimizes machine downtime affiliated with tooling, set-up, and/or processes. Conducts manufacturing process tests. Develops work standards for current tools, machines, and equipment and maintains accurate records. Provides training/work direction to other staff. Performs other duties as necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Technician - Manufacturing Engineering
At level I, work is moderately complex and difficult in character and requires program or project management skills. Typically requires independent problem solving and decision making with broad guidance provided on overall project objectives and with specific guidance on program complexities. Decisions focus on prioritization, process and issues rather than data elements and usually involve moderate risk to the organization although results may have a long-lasting impact. Primarily involves intermediate through experienced level work.
At level II, work is complex and difficult in character and requires strong technical and broad business knowledge in addition to program or project management skills. Requires independent problem solving and decision making with general direction given on project objectives and broad guidance from corporate strategy and goals. Exercises considerable latitude in determining specific project objectives and approaches to assignment. Decisions often involve substantial impact and risk to the organization with potential for long-lasting results. Primarily involves senior/advanced level work.
1. Provides technical support to set-up personnel, manufacturing, and engineering in all phases of manufacturing. Develops schematics, designs, and specifications as needed in support of new and existing processes/products.
2. Participates in continuous improvement activities to reduce cycle time/down-time due to set-up, change-over, processes, and/or tooling.
3. Troubleshoots, identifies, and implements system/process needs/improvements in work cell layout, process flow, work standards, etc. Minimizes machine downtime affiliated with tooling, set-up, and/or processes.
4. Conducts manufacturing process tests. Selects and adapts/modifies test equipment and procedures, sets up and operates equipment, and records data. Analyzes data and prepares reports.
5. Develops work standards for current tools, machines, and equipment in designated area and maintains accurate records.
6. Provides training and work direction to other staff. Performs other duties as necessary.
7. Be a first line responder to independently investigate, find root cause and implement immediate and long term corrective action for out of tolerance process variance and equipment down time.
8. Communicating with process engineering and support personnel to ensure robust process and solutions.
9. Assists in development and implementation of quality procedures, work instructions and standards. Understands Magna Mirrors Holland’s quality policy and assures compliance with ISO/IATF systems.
ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all work in compliance with Magna Mirrors – Holland Mirrors Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as all Federal, State and local laws. Understand the importance of conformance with all safety and environmental procedures of the environmental and safety management systems, including emergency response.
· Report any unsafe condition or action to his or her supervisor.
· Report any work-related injury to his or her supervisor within 8 hours.
· Never operate a machine or equipment until trained in the operating procedures, hazards, and safeguards and has been assigned to do so by the employer.
· Never remove, displace, destroy, or carry off any safeguard or interfere with the use by any other person.
· Use required personal protective equipment or devices where required.
· Understand your responsibility to the environmental programs, including ISO14001. Understand the actual or potential environmental consequences, when deviating from specified work instructions.
· Attend Environmental, Health and Safety training as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
Level I
1. Associate’s degree in related field plus related work experience including blueprint reading skills; or equivalent.
2. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, update, and work on all equipment and systems in area of responsibility (i.e. tooling, set-up, maintenance, manufacturing).
3. Demonstrated good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environment. Must be able to lead, train, and support other staff
4. Strong project management and problem-solving skills to work on projects independently under minimal work direction.
Level II
1. Significant related work experience; or equivalent.
2. Strong technical knowledge in manufacturing engineering field and broad business knowledge including business goals and systems. Understands the interrelated nature of department processes and evaluates operation of systems, technical equipment and/or procedures to correct and enhance output.
3. Ability to resolve unique work issues requiring significant creative and original thinking to define/determine project and information requirements, research and coordinate information, compile data, draw conclusions, and present it to influence opinions, decisions, and actions.
4. Demonstrated ability to plan and manage projects that require a long-term (sometimes 5 years) strategy and focus.
5. Demonstrated ability to provide direction and oversight to work of others, plan/assign personnel for projects or tasks and assist with the review and evaluation of personnel performance.
6. Demonstrated leadership skills to function as team or task force leader for specific projects, work for team consensus and contribute to achievement of team goals and objectives, and encourage team members to contribute to team tasks/activities and by taking risks and experimenting with new ideas.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
