Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Director/Principal for our Natural Resources team. This is a leadership position that could be filled out of multiple offices in Central / Northern California. It entails providing high-level QA/QC oversight, team supervision, and development of new opportunities within the water, energy, and transportation market sectors. In this position, you will work with a diverse group of Rincon leaders within Natural Resources and across multiple disciplines within the firm.   

 

What Do You Get To Do In This Position:

Operations and Technical Management

  • Provide final signatory review of biological studies for quality assurance/quality control
  • Collaborate with Natural Resources and other service line leadership in business operations including contract/risk management and program oversight
  • Complete and/or oversee field surveys and technical reports for general biological resource assessments, jurisdictional delineations, and habitat restoration projects
  • Identify potential impacts to biological resources and coordinate projects with various internal project managers and external clients, with responsibility as the primary point of contact
  • Lead complex regulatory permitting projects, including acquisition of Clean Water Act Section 404 permits, Section 401 Water Quality Certifications, Streambed Alteration Agreements, and Endangered Species Act compliance
  • Work on and prioritize multiple technical assignments and complete work satisfactorily within schedule and budget constraints through delegation of assignments to project team members
  • Execute strategic programs that advance Rincon’s internal operations

Talent Advancement

  • Identify and recruit qualified staff for biological resources programs
  • Train/mentor junior staff on technical report preparation, CEQA/NEPA, wetlands and endangered species regulatory permitting, and other environmental disciplines
  • Lead staff in management of large and strategic client work programs
  • Manage annual performance reviews and professional development plans

Client Management and Business Development

  • Lead development of natural resources program focused on Bay Area, Sacramento, or Central Valley region clients in coordination with other Rincon leaders, particularly in the water, transportation, or energy market sectors
  • Provide guidance and oversight for Rincon’s statewide natural resources practice (consultation assistance, strategies, and other support consulting services)
  • Oversee development of scope and cost proposals
  • Collaborate with other Rincon service line leaders on Business Development planning and strategic client pursuits

 

This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, or related field
  • 10 years of experience in progressive and successful environmental consulting (Project Management, Business Development and Technical Work) 
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication, planning, budgeting and organizational skills
  • Strong business acumen and customer service skills
  • Positive attitude and eager to streamline and improve process and workflows
  • Highly motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, strong time management skills, and innovative
