It’s an exciting time to be a part of Rio Bank! We are proud of our team and are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Teller to join our growing bank. This position is based in Weslaco, Texas. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills and cash handling experience.
Summary
As a Teller you would be responsible for providing quality customer service while conducting a variety of savings, checking and credit transactions. Duties include balancing each day’s transactions and keeping records of money and negotiable instruments for various transactions.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position, generally scheduled to work 40 hours per week.
Monday - Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. (hours vary)
Saturdays, 8:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (on rotation)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Accept retail and/or commercial deposits, loan payments, process checking and savings account withdrawals.
2. Cash checks and pay out money after verifying that signatures, written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds.
3. Efficiently conduct transactions in a fast-paced environment & under pressure as needed.
4. Balance cash drawer daily in accordance with Bank procedures and regulations.
5. Assist in ordering, receiving, verifying, and distributing cash.
6. Answer customer inquiries and refer customers to the proper service area for issues that cannot be resolved at the teller line.
7. Properly perform bank opening and/or closing procedures.
8. Promote the bank’s products and services. Explain other financial institution services including, but not limited to, consumer and commercial loans, Certificate of Deposit rates, debit cards, and merchant services.
9. Comply with all department and company policies, procedures and regulations.
10. Process night drop and mailed in deposits and ensure the information is recorded properly.
11. Ensure his/her teller area is properly stocked with forms and needed supplies.
12. Balance and conduct transactions for the coin machine and ATM on a day to day basis.
13. Make on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions; weighing customer satisfaction issues with the Bank’s exposure to loss or fraud and the ability to think through and rationalize decisions.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. Six months customer service experience required. Six months prior cash handling experience preferred.
3. Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking ability preferred.
4. Must be a self-starter. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and math skills required.
5. Ability to make effective decisions under pressure in a high monetary risk environment is essential.
6. Proficiency in basic computer skills and able to operate standard office equipment required.
7. Successful completion of in-house training program.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, phones, photocopiers, adding machines and scanners.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to talk, hear, stand, walk, stoop and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 5 to 40 pounds. This position involves standing for long periods of time, frequently viewing a computer monitor; requires good hand-eye coordination and good arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp.
TRAVEL: Minimal travel, typically to attend staff meetings, trainings or to assist at other banking center locations.
