What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of CSE position at Rising Ground, Inc?
Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Clinical Services and CSE in running the CSE department
- Collaborate with building leaders
- Assist with supervision of the CSE Team (PowerSchool Admin, IEP Coordinator and Learning Specialist) including supervision meetings, writing evaluations, etc.
- Review IEP drafts and documentation prior to release to home districts and make edits/additions and provide support and training to staff writing in IEPs
- Carry a caseload of students to lead CSE meetings, communication with the district, advocate for their needs and lead coordination amongst the Biondi School and RTC team
- Engage in student and family related meetings (IEP meetings, family team conferences, child study meetings, RTC meetings etc.)
- Work collaboratively and effectively with all school staff which consists of a multidisciplinary team including support staff, teachers, teacher’s assistants, 1:1 paraprofessionals, speech therapist, occupational therapist, nurse, administration and residential
- Provide information and guidance on state regulations and NYSED requirements
- Write, design and support implementation of Functional Behavioral Analyses (FBA) and Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP) and Progress Monitoring (PM)
- Communicate with families/guardians of Biondi students regarding meetings, concerns and gathering of information
- Conduct assessments and screenings to support formulation of the IEP
- Provide training to staff on topics such as IEP goal writing and best practices
- Assist in all audits, regulatory reviews, Middle States accreditation process etc.
- Provide coverage for other cases and provide meeting coverage as needed
- Support Director in coordination of calendar for IEP meetings including annual review, triennials, and re-evaluations
- Actively engage in school community and initiatives
- Assumption of other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Certification as a Special Education Teacher, School Psychologist or School Building Leader
- Master’s Degree in Special Education
- Ability to work the agency calendar year
- Experience chairing CSE meetings (minimum 1 year)
- Knowledge of NY State Office of Special Education requirements
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and protected information ensuring HIPAA and FERPA compliance and NYSED regulations
- Experience working with diverse, high-risk population of children and adolescents
- Flexible and adaptable – able to change with the changing environment and regulations
- Willingness to continually learn and grow and incorporate best practices
- Excellent organizational and communication skills including strong written and verbal communication
- Reliable and punctual
- Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) required
- Familiarity with Power School and IEP Direct a plus
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Salary $115,000 annually
