Rising Leaders Academy is seeking to hire a science teacher who exemplify initiative and collaboration for its Expeditionary Learning instructional framework.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the vision of Rising Leaders Academy in using the power of education, the endurance of language and culture and the virtue of relationships and community to help children rise to be leaders.
- Conducting and designing Learning Expeditions which support Florida B.E.S.T, and NGSSS standards.
- Participating in regular and ongoing professional development efforts to strive for excellence in education.
- Develop curriculum that aligns with the Expeditionary Learning practices to engage the twenty-first century learner (http://www.elschools.org) and Florida B.E.S.T. Standards
- Implement project based learning to promote critical thinking (http://elschools.org/best-practices/new-edition-expeditionary-learning-c...)
- Design authentic formative and summative assessments to inform instruction, document growth, and monitor student learning
- Communicate with students and families clear and instructive information about student progress
- Working cooperatively with the school team in all areas of instruction, assessment, documentation, parent involvement, and classroom management.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree required
- A valid Florida Educator's certificate (K-6) or (PK-3), or Subject Area (or statement of eligibility indicating applicant meets initial qualification for certification).
- Experience with Expeditionary Learning orProject-based learning preferred, or excitement and willingness to embrace project-based, creative instructional methodologies.
- Familiarity with cultural diversity

Experience:
- Teaching: A minimum of 1-3 years' teaching experience required. Three to five years' experience preferred.

Pay: We utilize a Bay County, Florida district-aligned, Teacher Salary Scale, which begins new teachers (Bachelors Degree, with starting experience) at $48,280.00 per year. The salary scale increases for experienced teachers, with creditable years of teaching service, and for those who hold specialized degrees. Teachers are eligible to participate in additional duties, club and athletic coaching roles, or serve on school teams, for additional compensation, based on school needs and budget.
