This position is responsible for managing all sales and service personnel in one or more remote branch offices and combines most duties of both the District Sales Manager and District Service Manager.
The position must maintain up-to-date technical knowledge on all products sold by the district as well as major industry trends and competitive products.
This position is responsible for enforcing all Company policies and performance standards. This includes making all employees aware of these policies through an effective orientation, communicating changes, setting expectations for performance, and holding employees accountable through the use of corrective action as appropriate.
Working as a team with Administrative and Sales personnel and with customers, this position assists in resolving outstanding collections issues and minimizing the aging of Accounts Receivable.
The incumbent is responsible for instilling a team atmosphere among the members of the service department and across functional lines. The incumbent will work in concert with the the other district managers in developing and implementing strategies that will maximize synergies between functions and promote teamwork.
Sales Management Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for maximizing the sales within the assigned offices through effective management and training of the sales force as well as ensuring repetitive sales through the development of positive long-term customer relationships.
Provide ongoing assistance to the sales force through direct sales involvement. In addition, the manager will provide guidance in the form of sales training, including the development of sales strategies which result in maximizing the effectiveness of the salespeople in the field.
This position is responsible for meeting or exceeding the sales budgets within the assigned offices.
This position will be responsible for establishing annual objectives for all sales employees as well as required disciplinary actions.
This position is responsible for the development, monitoring, and execution of individual Salesperson Territory Business Plans.
This position is responsible for conducting quarterly performance reviews of for all Salespeople including salesperson's performance to objectives, Territory Business Plans, major projects, etc., including a written follow up letter to each salesperson.
This position will personally participate and take responsibility for the selling strategies and activities of all Major Jobs and Accounts.
This position is responsible for New Salesperson training, including the development, implementation and monitoring of New Salesperson 90 day training program. Plan to be presented and approved by the GM or VPGM prior to new salesperson start date
Service Management Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for building a strong Service Team. This includes forecasting personnel needs to assure sufficient staff is available to meet demand while keeping overtime costs within acceptable parameters, and screening and hiring new Service Technicians.
This position is responsible for ensuring that all Technicians are trained, including initial as well as ongoing training, and ensuring progress in completing the Technician Training Standard and movement through the ASAPP levels of development.
This position is responsible for managing the safety of all Technicians. This includes ensuring initial and periodic safety training, ensuring that all Technicians have proper, functioning safety equipment, periodic inspections of equipment and safety audits, and enforcing safety policies and compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations. Should an accident occur, this position is responsible for completing the proper documentation, investigating the accident, and taking appropriate steps (including corrective action, if warranted) to minimize future risks.
This position is responsible for developing Technician Team Leaders, as the service team size warrants, in their roles and developing them to be ready for future opportunities within the Company.
This position is responsible for monitoring and identifying performance problems in service personnel and for taking a proactive approach to correcting negative behaviors. At a minimum, this position is responsible for conducting 2 performance reviews with all direct reports each year. As part of the performance appraisal process, the incumbent will work with each employee in setting performance objectives at the beginning of each year, or when the employee joins the company.
This position is responsible for fleet management of the service vehicles, ensuring proper maintenance is conducted and that each Technician has a safe vehicle that complies with applicable regulations.
This position works works with the Operations Manager or VPGM to establish proper inventory levels within on each service truck and in each storage facility; develops processes and procedures to ensure that these levels are maintained; and manages the Technicians, Team Leaders and Administrative personnel to ensure these levels are maintained without accumulating excess inventory.
Working through the Administrative personnel, the District Service Manager keeps Work In Process to a minimum.
This position is responsible for managing all service related expenses, including labor, supplies, materials, and travel costs. Reviews financial reports monthly, identifying areas of good and poor financial performance, trends, and ways to improve profitability.
This position will work with Service Coordinators, Service Administrators and Technician Team Leaders to ensure the efficient scheduling of all maintenance, repair, and service work in the district that results in maximizing service profits while exceeding customer expectations for timely service.
This position ensures the quality of work by all Technicians by ensuring effective training, regular quality audits, and periodic spot-checks.
This position serves as a resource to the sales staff by assisting with the technical aspects of sales. This position will also serve as the point person for any customer having a technical question on our product or a service related question.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 4 to 6 employees in the Sales Department and 4-10 employees in the Service Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Required Experience:
This position requires a four year degree in Business Management, Marketing or a related field. In addition, this position requires a minimum of five years of successful industrial field sales experience, including a minimum of two years in a sales management capacity. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. The qualified candidate will possess a thorough understanding of industrial sales and the ability to motivate a sales force to maximize sales.
