We’re hiring a VOCA (Victims of Crimes Act, from the office of the Governor) Grant Transition Specialist, at Gulf Coast Trades Center in New Waverly, TX, an affiliate of Rite of Passage. What you’ll do:

In this role, you will provide organized, ongoing support to youth victims in residence at Gulf Coast Trades Center and up to one year after discharge in their local community in problem solving and critical thinking, support them in therapeutic activities such as art therapy, health and wellness, music therapy; developing coping skills, de-escalation techniques, alternatives to anger, and in reducing aggression tendencies. Support services include ongoing crisis intervention, locating and accessing community resources that support positive choices and providing continuation of services initiated at GCTC.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide professional casework and transition support services to victims in residence at GCTC and one year after discharge in their local community.
  • Develop and/or implement program and service plans for each victim and coordinate the plan with other staff.
  • Provide services related to youth victims’ discharge such as progress reporting, support services referrals, transition evaluation, and/or crisis intervention.
  • Facilitate and/or attend monthly multidisciplinary meetings and review committee for each victim.
  • Serve as advocate and mentor.
  • Maintain required grant data and documentation of all activities and sessions with victims.

To be considered, you should:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral sciences or related field
  • Have at one year of experience working with youth
  • Have experience working in residential programs
  • Have experience using Microsoft applications
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have a willingness to travel
  • Be at least 21 yrs. of age
  • Must possess a valid Class C TDL
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test.
