Job Description
This position offers the opportunity to learn and grow in the field of nonprofit fundraising. The Associate will assist the Director of Philanthropy in conducting River Edge Behavioral Health and River Edge Foundation's philanthropy and fund development activities. External responsibilities include engagement in a multi-million-dollar capital campaign by identifying and cultivating major funding sources and implementing stewardship and investor recognition procedures. Internal responsibilities include assisting the Director of Philanthropy to institutionalize a culture of philanthropy, fund development activities within the organization, and managing the donor database.
Specific Accountabilities
- Helps foster a culture of philanthropy internally to create donor-centered organizations that nurture loyalty through comprehensive relationship-building, including cultivation and communications.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times.
- Assists in executing short and long-range fund development plans and programs that support River Edge Foundation's values, mission, and general objectives.
- Executes designated day-to-day operations of the development function and monitors adequacy of strategies and tactics.
- Maintains the Bloomerang database, entering gifts and pledges, setting reminders, scheduling activities, and generating reports and correspondence as needed.
- Alerts, briefs, and advises the Director of Philanthropy on problems and problem solutions in the day-to-day operation of the Philanthropy Office.
- Complies with internal fund development and philanthropic principles, policies, and procedures.
- Appropriately represents River Edge and the Foundation, the Boards of Directors and Trustees, and the CEO to investors, prospects, regulators, development committee(s), and fundraising volunteers.
- Implements cost-effective fund development programs while maintaining an acceptable level of quality.
- Ongoing study regarding the field of philanthropy and fundraising is expected. This is a promotable position.
Qualifications:
- Fully COVID Vaccinated.
- Database management skills and experience, confident and thoughtful oral and written communication skills with attention to detail
- Event management, some marketing experience.
Required knowledge and experience:
- Proposal writing, special events, and development office functions
- Gift processing, prospect and donor histories, and fundraising reporting.
- Familiarity with office computer systems is necessary.
- Experience with Bloomerang fundraising database preferred.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a field adaptable to fundraising.
