Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaboration and Requirement Gathering: Work closely with all levels of clinical staff to comprehend clinical workflows, gathering detailed requirements, and translating them into precise technical specifications for clinical systems.
- System Selection and Implementation: Assist in the selection, implementation, and integration of clinical systems, including electronic health records (EHRs), clinical decision support systems, and telemedicine platforms.
- Customization and Configuration: Tailor and configure clinical systems to align with the unique needs of healthcare providers, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory compliance.
- Data Management and Security: Oversee the management of clinical data within healthcare systems, implementing robust data validation, security, and integrity protocols.
- Training and User Support: Develop comprehensive training programs and provide ongoing support to healthcare staff, ensuring proficiency in utilizing clinical systems effectively.
- Usability Enhancement and Feedback Integration: Conduct thorough usability testing, actively seeking feedback from end-users to refine and enhance clinical system functionality and user experience.
- Technical Collaboration and Troubleshooting: Collaborate closely with other IT professionals/vendors to address technical challenges, implement system upgrades, and maintain high levels of system reliability and performance.
- Continuous Learning and Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in healthcare informatics, leveraging emerging technologies to drive innovation and improve clinical outcomes.
- Quality Improvement and Compliance: Analyze clinical data to identify performance metrics, implement quality improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including HIPAA & DOH/OMH regulations.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Engage in interdisciplinary teams to foster collaboration, drive innovation, and spearhead continuous improvement efforts in clinical informatics practices and technologies.
- May perform all or some of the responsibilities above and all positions perform other related duties as assigned.
- Registered Nurse, bachelor’s degree or higher preferred (specifically geared towards Nursing Informatics or a STEM related field).
- Ability to educate & train new staff; Ensuring proficient & effective usage of clinical systems.
- Strong knowledge of clinical workflows and healthcare practices is essential. Previous experience working in a clinical setting, such as a hospital, clinic, or healthcare facility.
- Familiarity with healthcare information systems, electronic health records (EHR), and health information exchange (HIE) platforms. Experience with Meditech Expanse preferred.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns and trends, and derive actionable insights to support clinical decision-making and quality improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of healthcare data privacy practices and regulations
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Flexible and adaptable regarding learning and understanding new technologies.
