River Oak Mechanical, LLC is a commercial mechanical subcontractor that has a highly experienced team that covers the full scope of mechanical work, from estimating to VDC design to project management to the final product constructed in the field.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Controller/Accountant plays an important role in the daily operations of River Oak Mechanical, LLC. This position oversees the daily, weekly, and monthly accounting and HR duties and serves as an office liaison for employees working in the field. This position also implements various assigned projects from start to end. The Controller/Accountant will perform the required responsibilities with a positive attitude, be willing to learn new tasks, serve as an advocate for employees, and assist with new projects as they arise.

PRIMARY DUTIES

· Process weekly payroll, remit payroll taxes, and file required payroll tax reports

· Accurately and efficiently enter A/P invoices and process vendor payments

· Accurately and efficiently enter A/R pay applications, receive and process payments, and regularly follow up on outstanding pay applications with general contractors

· Administer employee benefits including 401k and group insurances

· Serve as employee advocate through responsiveness and diligence in answering employee questions and requests

· Manage employee time off requests

· Process new hire and termination paperwork

· Manage company bank account and credit cards, reconciling daily

· Prepare monthly financial statements

· Close month-end general ledgers and reconcile ledger accounts

· Oversee bonding and job cost accounting

· Administer commercial insurances through assistance of 3rd party broker

· Administer company apprenticeship program

· Track and process company and GC lien waivers

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· Positive attitude and outlook

· Excellent computer skills and familiarity with accounting software

· Advanced Excel knowledge preferred

· 3 years of experience in payroll processing and reporting

· 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably construction accounting

· Thorough understanding of GAAP and accounting principles

· High degree of accuracy and detail orientation

· Ability to work independently with minimal direct oversight

· Excellent time management and organizational skills

· Good communication skills (oral and written)

· Solid understanding of confidentiality in an information-sensitive employment role

EDUCATIONAL, LICENSING and CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA preferred

· Licensed notary preferred

· SHRM certification preferred

· Valid social security number

· Valid driver’s license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands of this position are moderately sedentary in nature.

· Ability to withstand long periods of sitting or standing (stationary positions up to 50% of time)

· Ability to feel, grasp, operate and position items with fingers and hands; may require extensive keyboarding work at times

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds may be necessary in order to satisfy the burden of filing archiving and supplies purchase and/or distribution

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment for the Controller/Accountant is that of an average office setting, however the employee may, on occasion, be exposed to any of the following: infrequent/low levels of heat, cold, moisture, wind, sun, water, high-voltage electrical currents, flammable materials/gases, high-pressure tubing, pipes and valves, construction equipment and industry-related work areas under construction. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
