What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Engineer I position at RK&K?
RK&K is hiring an experienced Project Engineer to join our Structural Engineering group in Pennsylvania. As a Bridge Engineer at RK&K you will prepare designs and provide structural condition inspections for bridges and related transportation structures for various projects. This is an exciting opportunity for growth and development into Project Management.
Essential Functions:
- Provide preliminary concepts to final construction plans and construction phase reviews
- Design structural components of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls and related structures; buildings and foundations; pump station enclosures, tanks, vaults, thrust blocks, etc.
- Provide expertise in geometric layout and quantity development
- Participate in plan development in concert with CADD staff
- Calculate bridge load ratings
- Perform structural inspections for bridges and related structures
- Draft and submit inspection reports
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team across RK&K's portfolio
Qualifications:
- 3-7 years of experience in bridge / structural engineering - PennDOT projects
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or structural engineering
- Registered Project Engineer (P.E.) or the ability to obtain within 2 years of hire
- Experience with CADD and design software such as: STADD Pro, Larsa4D, Leap Bridge Modules, MicroStation, various other structural programs
- Effective, professional oral and written communication
- Must be able to work in the field as needed and willing to perform bridge inspections
Preferred:
- Master's degree in civil engineering or structures
- PennDOT inspection certifications
- NBIS Bridge Inspection Training preferred
