What You Will Do:
The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will report to an SRE Lead, responsible for RLDatix SRE functions.
The role, Site Reliability Engineer is a hands-on technical role which is suited for people who are motivated by cloud and automation technology. In addition to orchestrating infrastructure and software build and delivery pipelines, individuals within a Site Reliability Engineer role work collaboratively within R&D teams to build, test, deploy and monitor our infrastructure & software.
They are responsible for building and maintaining different environments (e.g.: Dev, Test, Production).
Site Reliability Engineers must be able to adjust to constant business change; common types of changes include new requirements, evolving goals and strategies, and emerging technologies. Site Reliability Engineers create a bridge between development and operations by applying a software engineering mindset to system administration topics. They split their time between operations/on-call duties and developing systems and software that help improve and monitor site reliability and performance.
A crucial part of the role is to coordinate with different teams within R&D and the organisation, through all phases of the software development life cycle. Site Reliability Engineers collaborate closely with product developers to ensure that the designed solution responds to non-functional requirements such as availability, performance, security, and maintainability. They also work with release engineers to ensure that the software delivery pipeline is as efficient as possible.
Additionally, this person will be responsible for:
· Promoting SRE & DevOps culture.
· Keeping a “customer first” mindset to satisfy the needs of their internal clients.
· A focus on configuration, documentation, optimization, and maintenance of infrastructure components.
· Migrating platforms into the Cloud with a particular focus on:
- Architectural improvements
- Deployment automation
- Cost efficiency
- Compliance & governance policies & documentation
The role requires an individual who is a critical thinker with problem-solving skills. Experience with developing and evolving continuous integration, delivery and deployment processes is critical.
The candidate will get comfortable not having all the answers. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be researching and learning constantly. Demonstrate that you are eager to learn by volunteering for projects and tasks. Collaboration and communication, effectively with you co-workers and stakeholders throughout the business.

Experience/Knowledge You Will Need:
Essential:
· Cloud Providers (AWS & Azure preferred)
· Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
· Configuration management tooling (Ansible & Tower preferred)
· Kubernetes & Docker
· Traditional Virtual Machine based infrastructure
· Microservices Architecture
· Linux Fundamentals
· Database Engines (MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
· Kafka & Zookeeper
· Prometheus, Grafana, Mimir, AlertManager
Desirable:
· Degree in Computer Science or related field.
· More than 6 years’ experience in a SRE, DevOps or related engineering role.
· Hands on knowledge of the SRE and DevOps culture and best practices.
· Up-to-date knowledge of cyber security threats, current best practices, and latest software/tools used for cloud security.
· An understanding of tools used during the CI/CD cycle.
· Security capabilities and requirements of AWS and other cloud-based platforms.
