Job Summary:
The Controller is responsible for maintaining the financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). He/she manages accounting operations and regulatory reporting, ensures compliance with banking regulations and internal controls. This position reports to the CFO and works closely with loan and deposit operations managers.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Accounting management for the bank, holding company and subsidiaries of the bank.
Manages the month-end closing process ensuring time frames are met and issues are communicated prior to closing
Prepares monthly Board of Directors financial reports.
Defines and maintains general ledger chart of accounts for all legal entities.
Oversees preparation of regulatory reports including the Call report.
Develop and oversee processes to ensure FIDICIA key controls are maintained across all accounting functions.
Maintain Accounting policies and procedures ensuring annual review and compliance with bank regulations.
Integrity, discretion, and respect for confidential information are essential.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum of 8-10 years bank accounting or related financial services industry experience.
Licensed CPA preferable
Minimum of 8-10 years public accounting experience OR 10 years of progressive accounting experience.
At least 5 years of experience managing accounting professionals.
Current knowledge of GAAP, FDICIA, and regulatory accounting principles.
Advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel and Powerpoint
