If you're looking to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department at a successful Government Consulting company, We are looking for a Controller based in the Portsmouth, Virginia area, this is a permanent position. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. How you will make an impact
- Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
- Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
- Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
- Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
- Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
- Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible
- Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
- Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
- Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations
Requirements
- Must have Unanet experience
- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
- Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
- Accounts Receivable (AR) experience highly desired
- Proficiency in Account Balance
- Proven knowledge of Aged Receivables
- Well-founded grasp of cost accounting
- Solid understanding of Annual Budget
- Accounts Payable (AP) experience preferred
- Expertise in Annual Operating Budget
- General familiarity with Tax Compliance Processes
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
- Detailed and have the ability work independently
- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
- Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
