Based in the West Hartford, Connecticut area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. What you get to do every day
- Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
- Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
- Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
- Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
- Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
- Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
- Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
- Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
- Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

Requirements
- Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
- CPA/MBA preferred
- Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
- Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
- Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
- Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
- High attention to detail
- Billing experience highly desired
- Solid understanding of month end closings
- Golf carts experience preferred
- Strong familiarity with Hospitality management
- Adeptness in Jonas Club Software
- Hospitality industry experience
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
- Ability to meet deadlines
Salary : $85,000 - $100,000
