Tyler Houk (Practice Director) with Robert Half is currently working with a client seeking a cost accountant. The Cost Accountant is a critical role responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will also establish customer pricing by working closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team. How you will make an impact
- Create internal cost audits
- Estimate new and proposed product costs
- Take physical inventory and review the cycle count program
- Assemble reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
- Record and examine changes in goods and services, and determine the effects on cost
- Design a cost accounting system, and manage the documents and records of the organization- Analyze projects and data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste
- Support audits and general ledger preparation
- Prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs and analyze manufacturing costs
- Manage the implementation of a standard costing methodology for domestic plants
- Conduct variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances
- Analyze costs and recommend cost savings
- Abide by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
- Examine the data collected and log a detailed record of the results
Requirements
- High analytical and extremely detailed
- Knowledge of organizational accounting concepts
- 2 years of Cost Accounting work experience
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
- Excellent attention to detail
- Highly capable of analyzing financial data and quickly creating accurate reports
- Strong knowledge of cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates
