The Cost Accountant is a critical role responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will also work closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team to establish customer pricing. How you will make an impact
- Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization
- Approximate costs for new and proposed products- Prepare and complete internal cost audits
- Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
- Follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
- Recommend costs and cost savings based on analysis
- Perform variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances
- Assist in general ledger preparation and audits
- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
- Implement standardized costing methodology for all domestic plants
- Decide costs of business activity, including raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste
- Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results
- Review changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost
- Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
- Strong attention to detail
- 2 years of Cost Accounting work experience
- High analytical and extremely detailed
- Highly capable of analyzing financial data and quickly creating accurate reports
- Prior experience utilizing cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates
- Understanding of organizational accounting concepts
