Job Title: Machine Learning Engineer/Data Scientist

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a solid educational background in quantitative fields such as Applied Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or related disciplines. With a strong foundation in machine learning techniques and programming languages, the Machine Learning Engineer will contribute to innovative solutions in data wrangling, model development, and deployment within our multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize expertise in R or Python programming languages for data wrangling, machine learning, and data visualization.
• Apply fundamental understanding of machine learning techniques, including logistic regression, random forest, neural networks, and more.
• Conduct variable selection, dimensionality reduction, and model diagnostics to optimize model performance.
• Deploy machine learning models in production environments, utilizing CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools like Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
• Collaborate effectively within a diverse technical team to deliver innovative solutions to complex problems.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills to interact with colleagues from various backgrounds.
• Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address challenges and adapt to evolving requirements.

Qualifications:

• M.S. or above in Applied Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or related quantitative fields. Ph.D. or additional experience preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in R or Python programming languages.
• Experience with machine learning techniques and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
• Familiarity with variable selection, model training, testing, and validation processes.
• Experience deploying machine learning models in production environments.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with biological, cellular, or ecological data modeling.
• Previous experience in machine learning engineering or similar roles, with a focus on model deployment and data pipeline construction.
• Knowledge of artificial intelligence or generative AI techniques.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark, as well as database management systems like SQL and NoSQL.
• Familiarity with AWS services.
• Experience consulting on scientific projects or working within scientific teams.
