JOB SUMMARY:
The Head of Data Science and Technology owns the overall technology vision of all software and data
science products. is a remote monitoring service provided to growers and companies storing
perishable commodities to help them reduce food waste, lower costs, and improve efficiency. The candidate will
drive the implementation of new technologies and components and manage the overall operational, budgetary,
and financial responsibilities for the Engineering and Data Science teams using sound decision making skills that
are financially responsible, accountable, and justifiable.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Define the entire technology architecture, standards, strategy, and achieve execution of the Data
Science program and create a full cycle roadmap to support company goals and objectives
• Facilitate collaboration of the Data Science, Product Management, Customer Success and Sales teams
to enable innovation of technologies.
• Collaborate closely with the executive team to translate inputs into a techno-economic feasibility of
potential opportunities, lead assessments, and prioritization(s).
• Utilize standard designs to help facilitate a successful transition from initial requirements to long
term production.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and processes to transport data from various sources into
TimeSeries data lake.
• Cultivate DASH analytics dashboard for the data science team.
• Prepare data for analysis, ensure data has been cleansed, rules are in place and completed.
• Build and develop algorithms, prototypes, and analytical tools that enable data science team to test
and validate their models and algorithms.
• Interpret trends and patterns in sensor data by performing complex data analysis tasks using Python.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field required, Master’s preferred
Experience:
• Minimum 7 years of experience with a software development experience which should include 3 years
of architecture/technical leadership.
• Experience managing the day-to-day operations of a data science team (including setting priorities,
assigning resources, and ensuring project goals are achieved) while overseeing simultaneous projects
from inception to completion, reviewing project plans, designs, and deliverables
• Providing strong technical guidance to the tech team enabling successful delivery of project
• Strong knowledge of software development processes and methodologies including Agile and Scrum
methods
• A great communicator, able to convey complex issues, ideas and concepts clearly. A track record of crossgroup/cross-discipline collaboration
• Experience working in the agriculture or food sector highly desirable, but not require
