An Logistics Manager - International oversees the movement of goods across international borders. They ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation, compliance with customs regulations, and timely delivery to international customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive routing guide for onboarding new and existing suppliers to ensuring efficient inbound shipments.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and carriers to ensure smooth operations and high service levels.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure compliance with shipping requirements.
- Lead the integration and implementation of inbound logistics processes within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system including freight estimates and ASN.
- Optimize inbound logistics processes to achieve cost reduction goals, ensure on-time deliveries, and improve overall efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational initiatives and other logistics-related projects through the Roadmap.
- Oversee the receipt process in the ERP/PLM system, ensuring accurate transaction and collection of logistic data.
- Exercise discretion on a by shipment basis in order to most effectively utilize shipment containers.
- Establish and manage implementation of logistics routing guides and transportation management practices
- Establish and manage booking exceptions
- Work with brokers to get cargo from overseas
- Expedite freight when needed for manufacturing operations in the US
- Manage inbound shipments at origin
- Develop and measure Inbound Logistics performance through KPIs and Dashboards (i.e. Container Utilization, On-time rates, etc.).
- Continuously monitor and assess logistics providers performance through quarterly business reviews and regular provider management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in logistics processes, identifying opportunities to streamline operations, reduce manual tasks, and enhance efficiency.
- Provide guidance and support to the logistics team, ensuring development and adherence to established procedures and weekly freight forecasting.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in logistics and recommend improvements or changes as needed.
- Strategize and manage international logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and customer service.
- Oversee the entire order cycle, from quotation to delivery.
- Liaise and negotiate with international suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and customs agencies.
- Manage freight costs, track inventory levels, and ensure adherence to delivery schedules.
- Develop and implement global sourcing strategies for clients.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement process optimizations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 5 years work experience in Logistics preferably in a leadership role
- 5 years experience with international freight negotiations
- Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Preferably BlueCherry.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of supplier/carrier and 3PL management, ERP systems and cost reduction strategies.
- Proficient in using logistics software and systems for routing, tracking, and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize logistics processes, driving cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and logistics partners.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in data analysis and reporting.
- Proactive and results-driven mindset, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations, export compliance, and customs requirements is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with domestic and international partners.
