POSITION SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Director will be responsible for directing all purchasing activities for. This includes overseeing the procurement of raw materials, components, and services. This position will develop long-term sourcing strategies to reduce costs or improve quality. The Purchasing Director will also be involved in identifying and establish relationships with new suppliers and negotiating favorable terms and conditions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Leads sourcing and procurement activities to achieve both strategic and operational success for the company.
· Implements global, regional & local principles, standards, and processes. Aligns global company sourcing strategies to ensure continuity of supply, increase productivity, reduce costs, and prepare for future sourcing challenges.
· Develops and maintains strategic alliances with suppliers sourcing strategies, ensures continuity of supply, optimizes external spend and implements supply agreements at lowest possible costs.
· Responsible for the collection and interpretation of market data on products and suppliers and develops plans for the short-term and long-term security of supply and supplier position.
· Manages and directs the site purchasing personnel and continuously improves the purchasing structure and systems.
· Develops action plans and set targets for the department staff: raw materials, packaging, transport, indirect materials, and MRO.
· Develops and monitors key performance indicators for the business. Provides and reports against, budgets and targets for the businesses.
· Ensures continuity of supply of key raw materials by searching for alternative suppliers in cooperation with Technology and R& D.
· Monitors site forecasts and usage of key materials. Meets regularly with site management, logistics, and procurement personnel.
· Manages inventory levels to ensure that the company has sufficient materials to meet demand while avoiding overstocking to mitigate result in wasted resources
· Prepares the annual Purchasing budget and aid in the forecasting of Capital Expenditure proposals
Requirements
- POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related degree is required.
· Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) a plus.
· Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in chemical industry procurement experience, sourcing in a mid to large size organization.
· Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimize team performance and development
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to allow for communicating effectively with all levels of employees both verbally and in writing
· Strong analytical skills
· Excellent computer skills in MS Office skills (MS Excel, MS, Word, MS PowerPoint), Procurement systems, ERP systems such as SAP a plus and advanced Excel skills including pivot tables.
· Ability to identify processes needing improvement, and the confidence to recommend improvements to Senior Leadership
Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
