What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Analyst position at Robert Half?
Monitor organization’s networks for security breaches and investigate a violation when one occurs
• Conduct penetration testing, which is when analysts simulate attacks to look for vulnerabilities in their systems before they can be exploited
• Research the latest information technology (IT) security trends
• Help plan and carry out an organization’s way of handling security
• Recommend security enhancements to management or senior IT staff
• Document security breaches and assess the damage they cause
• Fix detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard.
• Develop company-wide best practices for IT security.
• Monitor Anti-Virus software console and act on threats to maintain a virus-free environment
• Establishes system controls by developing framework for controls and levels of access; recommending improvements.
• Ensures authorized access by investigating improper access; revoking access; reporting violations; monitoring information requests by new programming; recommending improvements.
• Initiate incident response when threats arise from Phishing emails, compromised accounts, malware\virus\Trojan\worms discovered
• Complete change request forms using standard company policies.
• Work with 3rd party vendors to monitor and investigate alarms as displayed within the organizations security information and event management software (SIEM)
• Acts as IT Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all other IT projects and initiatives
• Works closely with IT to maintain overall IT Security quality control standards and best practices
• Ensures the privacy and confidentiality of all personnel matters inclusive of the performance of any computer work and/or special projects.
• Collects, develops, and analyzes data to resolve problems and to assist in planning.
• Proactively receives escalations from System Specialists to facilitate the remediation of IT Security related threats and/or incidents.
Ensures integrity and consistency of desktop patching in collaboration with IT Support management, Network Manager, Network Administrators, Business Systems Analysts, and System Administrators.
• Perform audits and preserve documentation required to maintain PCI compliance in regards to P2PE devices
• Identifies improvement opportunities. Examples include but not limited to tools, processes, procedures, installation, configuration and troubleshooting techniques.
• Handles user problems effectively and escalates problems as needed using the department’s escalation procedures.
• Create and develop procedures and or processes that others can execute relating to IT Security.
• Adheres to all documented Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Consults with vendors and technical staff to resolve technical issues.
• Provide metrics for safeguards in place via specialized reports and/or documents
• Functions as a trouble-shooter, when needed, to identify and remedy hardware and software issues.
• Documents all work completed in the IT Request system and/or appropriate system logs.
• Attends meetings and training as required.
