Responsibilities
- Fixed Asset Management: Oversee the complete lifecycle of fixed assets, from acquisition to disposal, ensuring accurate recording and tracking in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Capital Expenditure Management: Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to accurately record and track capital expenditures related to construction projects, ensuring proper capitalization and depreciation.
- Depreciation Calculation: Calculate and record depreciation expenses for fixed assets in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Asset Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of fixed asset sub-ledgers to the general ledger, investigating and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Asset Inventory: Conduct periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets at construction sites and company facilities, reconciling inventory records to physical counts and identifying any discrepancies.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports related to fixed assets, providing accurate and timely information to support decision-making processes.
- Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist in the preparation of documentation for internal and external audits related to fixed assets.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in fixed asset accounting processes, implementing solutions to enhance accuracy and effectiveness.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in fixed asset accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards, with knowledge of construction accounting practices preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, GP and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
