We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr Property Accountant to join our team in SOUTHFIELD, Michigan. This role involves managing financial operations within our real estate and property management industry. As a Sr Property Accountant, you will be expected to handle financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations among other duties.
Responsibilities
- Handle financial reporting tasks including fee-based and partnership allocations.
- Maintain and update the general ledger on a regular basis.
- Ensure accurate month and year-end close operations.
- Prepare and process journal entries as needed.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting activities for the real estate portfolio.
- Assist in the development of rent rolls in collaboration with property managers.
- Conduct account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
- Provide information and support questions for the successful preparation of all necessary tax returns
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Property Accountant or in a similar role in accounting
- Proven experience in Account Reconciliation
- Proficiency in preparing Cash Flow Forecasts
- Familiarity with General Ledger operations
- Ability to Analyze Financial Statements effectively
- Experience in handling financial matters for Multiple Entities
- Proficiency in preparing Financial Statements
- Experience in creating and managing Operational Budgets
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
- Knowledge of property management software would be an advantage
- Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations relating to property accounting
