Woodruff Arts Center employees play an integral role in creating and supporting great art and education initiatives at the nation’s third largest arts center. Comprised of three Art Partners—Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and High Museum of Art—there’s a role for everyone at The Woodruff. Reports to: Head of Creative Aging and Lifelong Learning FLSA: United States of America (Non-Exempt) Employment Status: Temporary/Full time For this position we will seek an intern who has an interest in art or museum education and in working with people with disabilities. The Accessibility Intern will assist Creative Aging and Lifelong Learning and Family Programs with research, resource development, and program assistance and evaluation. The intern will assist with existing and ongoing programs, help research best practices for sensory-friendly programming, research and co-develop resources for visitors with disabilities, and assist with staff and volunteer training. These efforts will support the expansion of the museum’s accessibility and inclusion for visitors with disabilities, bolster our staff and volunteer understanding of these audiences, and improve communication with visitors with disabilities. Specific projects: This is a list of some of the projects the intern will be involved in • Research for sensory-friendly programming • Research and assist in developing social stories, maps, and other resources that improve how we communicate museum accessibility and opportunities for visitors with disabilities • Research and evaluation with visitors with disabilities and their families for education programs geared toward learners of all ages Writing of alternative text for collection objects on high.org Research and participation in staff and volunteer training on working with visitors with disabilities Necessary Qualifications: • Comfort with public speaking • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) • Strong writing and communication skills • Detail-oriented, strong work ethic The Woodruff Arts Center is one of the largest arts centers in the world, home to the Tony Award-winning Alliance Theatre, the Grammy Award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) and the High Museum of Art, the leading art museum in the Southeast.
