What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Robin Healthcare?

What You'll Be Doing:
- Oversight:
- Individual will manage the Accounting personnel, oversee the day-to-day accounting functions. Act as a strong leader and motivate direct reports to achieve organizational goals.
- Ensure all company guidelines with regards to Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Inventory are properly carried out.
- Recruit, supervise, coach and develop staff and monitor their performance. Develop an appropriate method for ongoing communication and supervision.
- Ensure all team members have clear goals and objectives.
- Accounting & Reporting:
- Ensure monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines are established and adhered to and that each team member's responsibility for the closings is clearly defined so that the department goals are met.
- Set and maintain a monthly departmental calendar. Identify ways to shorten the closing calendar.
- Prepare Gross Margin Analysis including reconciliation of Gross Margin. Explain variations in the Gross Margin from month to month.
- Prepare payroll reconciliations.
- Prepare account reconciliations as needed for monthly closings.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled each month.
- Create month-end reports, including Practice P&L and Departmental P&L.
- Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and resolve accounting and/or accounting system discrepancies and irregularities.
- Effectively present and discuss company financials with Client Success Team and department heads.
- Ensure all deadlines to CFO and CEO are respected.
- Ensure any new cost centers or general ledger accounts are mapped in the financials correctly.
- Participate in departmental meetings.
- All other Ad Hoc functions.
- Budgeting:
- Work with FP&A Team to co-lead budget process for all annual budgets and re-projections. Summarize budgets for review with CFO.
- Liaison with FP&A and departmental managers to obtain, validate, understand and challenge submitted budgets.
- Create budget templates and ensure budgets are entered into the appropriate budget templates.
- Prepare practice profitability analysis.
- Complete cost analysis.
- Recommend areas for cost-savings.
- All other Ad Hoc functions.
- Treasury:
- Manage day-to-day treasury functions.
- Prepare the weekly NFP (Net Financial Position) and quarterly cash flow projections.
- Prepare wire transfers and ACH payments.
- Monitor cash balances and transfer funds as necessary.
- Coordinate and resolve various issues with banks and maintaining relationship with banking contacts.
- Identify areas for improvements and efficiencies.
- Act as lead on significant process improvements.
- Other:
- Coordinate and lead the annual year-end audit review. Develop on-going relationship with Audit Firm to facilitate an effective audit process.
- Coordinate and lead all other audits (401k, Sales/Use Tax, Other).
- Assist CFO as requested on all other business needs.
- Evaluate internal controls. Document policy, procedures and workflows for Accounting Department and identify areas for process improvement and/or stream-lining.
- Develop trustworthy relationships with colleagues.
- Evaluate computer software/systems and identify areas for improvements. Act as lead on new technology and system roll-outs.
- Ensure all files for the department are maintained within company's standards.
- Ensure credit worthiness of the Company is maintained through great vendor payment track record.
- Be innovative across all areas and ensure all processes are performed efficiently.
- Monitor team's overtime and ensure work responsibilities are evenly balanced among team to minimize need for overtime.
What You'll Bring:
- Must live in CA, NY, NJ
- Minimum 10 years in Accounting role, with experience at Controller level.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred
- Effective management skills, including assessing team member's performance, coaching, recruiting training and retention of team members.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong decision-making and problem solving skills
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated and ability to work effectively both alone as well as within a team
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
