JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Overview:

This role is critical in driving the development of our groundbreaking robotic technology, which aims to revolutionize the $270B homebuilding market by significantly increasing production speed and reducing costs, thereby addressing the housing deficit for middle and low-income households.


RoBuildX, an innovative startup at the forefront of transforming the homebuilding industry is seeking a talented and motivated Robotics Engineer to join our team to design, model, and build innovative robotic solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for the full cycle of robotics development, from initial concept design through detailed 3D modeling, prototyping, and final construction. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to integrate cutting-edge technologies into functional robotic systems.


Key Responsibilities

·        Conceptual Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and develop innovative robotic solutions. Create design specifications and prototypes to solve real-world problems.

·        3D Modeling: Use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to design and refine mechanical components, ensuring that the robotic systems are functional, efficient, and safe.

·        Prototyping and Building: Lead the construction of prototypes, including hands-on assembly of mechanical, electrical, and software systems. Manage testing and validation of prototypes to ensure they meet performance specifications.

·        Component Selection: Select motors, sensors, controllers, and other components required to bring the robotic design to life.

·        System Integration: Ensure smooth integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components within the robot.

·        Optimization: Continually refine and optimize designs for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

·        Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of all designs, processes, and build procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

·        Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.

·        Minimum of 4 years of experience in a robotics company

·        Proven experience in designing, modeling, and building robotic systems from scratch.

·        Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).

·        Experience with prototyping techniques such as 3D printing, CNC machining, or laser cutting.

·        Knowledge of electrical systems, sensors, and actuators for robotics applications.

·        Hands-on experience with programming and control systems, including knowledge of ROS (Robot Operating System) or other robotics software platforms.

·        Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex design challenges.

·        Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills

·        Familiarity with AI and machine learning applications in robotics.

·        Experience with embedded systems and hardware design.

·        Familiarity with automation and industrial robotic systems.

·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, build consensus, and influence key stakeholders.

·        Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and a drive to push the boundaries of technology.

·        Location: Initially remote, then Boston MA

 Preferred but not required:

·        Ability to travel as needed.

·        Experience in the construction industry, particularly with construction methods and modular construction.

·        Proficiency in patent regulations and intellectual property management is also preferred.

  • Experience in startup environments or fast-paced, high-growth companies is highly desirable.
